Chapter 246
Chapter 246:
His face twisted in a mixture of anger, betrayal, and something else—something far deeper.
I didn’t wait. I wrested the folder from his fingers, my pulse hammering in my chest as I read the title.
Faith wasn’t joking.
The words seared themselves into my mind. A heavy silence descended over the room. Dominic stood frozen, his hands tangled in his hair, his breathing ragged. Then, suddenly, he exploded.
“I can’t lose her,” he snapped, his voice breaking. “I won’t lose her.” He turned to me, his expression wild, desperate. “Alex, this isn’t just about the damn divorce. Nathan is a psycho. If he has her…” He clenched his fists, his whole body shaking. “I’ll kill him myself.”
He paced back and forth, his curses laced with muttered threats. His feelings were raw, unfiltered. He was falling apart, and for once, I had no words to fix it.
I just let him be.
I didn’t know exactly how he felt—I hadn’t lost Raina—but I understood enough to know that words wouldn’t help him now.
Minutes passed before Dominic finally stopped pacing. He let out a heavy sigh and planted his hands on his hips. His voice, when he spoke again, was husky.
“At least Raina and the rest are away from him,” he muttered.
I nodded, forcing myself to swallow the lump in my throat. “Yeah,” I agreed. “At least Raina’s safe.”
If it had been her… I wasn’t sure I could remain as calm as I was now. But even as I said it, something gnawed at me. A sinking feeling. Something wasn’t right.
I spun toward the men. “Check the surveillance cameras around the café,” I barked, my voice sharp with urgency. “I want every angle, every frame. If there’s footage of the van, get the plate number. If we get the plate number, we find who owns it. And if we find who owns it, we find Faith.”
The men nodded and immediately moved to carry out my orders.
I exhaled deeply and turned to another guard. “Call the police. The more people we have on this, the better.”

He hesitated, as if questioning whether this was the right move, but I shot him a look that left no room for argument. He nodded and stepped away to make the call.
It wasn’t long before flashing blue and red lights illuminated the driveway. I heard the rumble of car doors opening, heavy boots hitting the pavement, and then—him.
Detective Carter.
The same smug-faced bastard from when Faith had been arrested.
He strolled toward us with his usual air of arrogance, hands in his pockets, a slow smirk creeping onto his face. His eyes flicked over the scene, then landed on Dominic.
“Surprised? Why am I not?” he drawled.
My fists clenched at my sides. “What the hell is that supposed to mean?” I snapped, stepping forward.
Carter didn’t even bother to look up. Instead, he pulled out his notepad, flipping through the pages as if he were already bored with the conversation.
I narrowed my eyes. He seemed like one of those officers who had a personal grudge against the Grahams. Whether it was because of our money, influence, or just because they didn’t like how we ran things—it didn’t matter now. What mattered was the fact that Faith was gone, and this asshole was wasting my time.noveldrama
But Carter didn’t respond to my question. Instead, he turned his full attention to Dominic.
