A Divorce He Regrets

Chapter 295

Chapter 295:

I slid the car into a dark corner with a row of parked vehicles. Dom leaned against one of them, a wine-colored Bentley, his legs crossed, a cigar held to his lips.

“You’re starting to hang around here too much, like you’re one of us,” Dom snickered.

I shoved him the middle finger and continued my brisk walk toward the front entrance.

“If you were the only one here, we both know I would never step foot in this place,” I scoffed. “So don’t flatter yourself. I’m here for Raina.”

“I knew this pregnancy was going to be more of a pain in the ass than it was worth,” Dom groaned. “You’re never going to leave us in peace for more than a day, are you?” He whined like a frustrated toddler.

I chuckled. “Yup,” I said, popping the “p.” “You both are stuck with me now.”

Dom shook with laughter as we went inside. “Either way, congratulations,” he smiled. “But what’s the plan going forward?”

I shrugged; the answer was simple. “If Raina would agree to marry me—”

“No,” he cut in before I could finish the statement. I turned to him, more than a little confused. I thought he would be happy, elated by the news. He looked anything but. “Raina would not be associated with the likes of your mother or sister, I’m sorry.”

I shook my head.

I let out a breath I hadn’t even realized I had been holding. “Agreed!” I lifted both hands in surrender before he brought the big gun. “If she does agree to marry me, I would get a separate house.”noveldrama

I would definitely be doing that while I waited for her answer, but Dominic didn’t need to know that.

“Okay, enough marriage and pregnancy talk. Who’s the new board member?”

He shrugged. “Still waiting for an answer myself.”

“Do you think it could be the—” I paused. The insensitivity of my statement was hard to ignore, but it had to be said. “Do you think it could be the other brother?”

“Who knows? Could be,” he agreed. “But from my conversations with him at the office the other day, he isn’t the type to have the money or the guts to actually pull something of this scale off.” He handed me a crystal glass filled with golden liquid.

Okay. That left only one person who did, in fact, have the guts.

“Could it be Nathan?”

Dom shook his head, taking a seat on the plush couch across from me. “Doubt it.” He eased into a reclined position. “Nathan wants Raina for himself, and with that comes the entire Graham fortune. Do the math.” He gave me a look that said it was a pretty obvious choice. “Nathan would want to keep it. This new buyer wants to do the opposite—sell it off.”

Okay. Fair point. But who else was there?

“We’ll know more tomorrow. Fingers crossed it’s something useful.” He paused at the door to Raina’s room, his hand resting over the handle. “Speaking of which, make sure no one knows about Raina’s pregnancy, please.” His voice dropped low, and I knew exactly what he meant. Do as he requested or risk a fight with his 614 self.

My mother’s face invaded my thoughts at just the right moment. Speak of the devil. Thankfully, they knew better than to put my child at risk. And if they didn’t, well, I had at least mentioned it once—so that would be their mistake.

I let myself in, and Dom remained in the hallway for a moment.

“Before you chase me out, I just need to know. Why wouldn’t you marry me? I know you asked for space, and I’m really not trying to disrespect your choice, but why?” I rushed the question before I could overthink it again.
