A Divorce He Regrets

Chapter 302

Chapter 302:

Even as we headed home to celebrate, my body still shook from the aftermath of his vow. The heat in his eyes, the vulnerability he finally showed—it was all too much.noveldrama

“What the actual fuck?” Dom growled, pulling me out of the abyss that had started to reel me in.

“What?” I asked, the same time Alex echoed, “You good?”

Dom made a dragging sound with his teeth. “Another secret board meeting was held during the time of the ceremony.” He didn’t wait for our response before storming off. My heart sank to my toes, but I rushed after him.

Their issue with me was the marriage. Couldn’t they wait? They knew about the ceremony, so what else did they want?

Dom straight-up barged through, his body raked with barely contained rage. The board members were still seated around the round table, so there was no denying what they’d been up to.

“Have you no decency?” He lashed out at the head of the board, or at least the former head, considering someone else now held the highest number of shares in their possession—all thanks to the old fools. “You wanted Raina married, well, guess what? She’s married.”

“Funny thing though, it doesn’t matter, because as of today, Raina Graham ceases to be CEO, as I possess way more shares than she does.” A strange voice eased in, confident, cocky, and not at all phased by the signed marriage license on the center table. He slid into the seat at the head of the table. “What I say, goes.” He smirked, knowing he was right.

Dom sucked in a harsh breath, like he’d been bitten. “Cale Osborn.” Dom spilled the name, as if he couldn’t believe what he was saying. His face turned pale, like he’d seen a ghost.

“You know him?” I whispered in his ear, even though all eyes were on us.

“Yes, I’ve seen him around the house a lot of times. I thought he was a friend of Grandpa’s.” The bite behind his words told me we were about to be tossed down memory lane, and we wouldn’t be coming out without a coatful of bruises.

Rage. Pure, unfiltered, murderous anger raked through my entire body until it was all I could do not to break his neck in half. Cale Osborn had been close enough to Grandpa to be considered a friend of the family. And that was heavier than it sounded. Grandpa was the kind of man who saw dying alone and lonely as a better alternative when the other option was trusting someone else.

How could he so easily try to take what belonged to his friend, his lineage, like it was some toy they were passing around?

“Don’t look at me like I already have five bullet holes from your gun.” He snorted. “It’s not personal.” He shrugged, cocky as hell. How could it not be? What was the motive behind this? Why now?

I dug my nails into my palm. It didn’t feel like Grandpa was being betrayed—it felt like I was. The urge to jump him, strangle him, toss his short, pompous ass out of the roof-high window was brain-numbing.

I clamped my mouth shut instead. With everything that was going down, the last thing Raina needed was for me to land a court case that could catapult Cale to the very top of the company.

“Why?” I tried to wrap my head around the possible reasons he could have, but came up short every time. “Why now? Why all of a sudden?” I wasn’t even looking at him, too lost in thought to focus on his misarranged face.

Was it because Grandpa was no more?

His shoulders rolled in a shrug, like he knew he had won and was only helping me catch up.
