Chapter 525
People all around started whispering and pointing. But honestly, nobody had seen exactly what happened. No one realized that it was this woman who picked a fight with Calliope in the first place.
Since they hadn't seen anything, everyone just assumed Calliope was bullying
her.
After all, the woman on the floor looked like a total mess-her dress soaked in wine, hair stuck to her cheeks, slumped against the side of the table. She'd taken a nasty fall, too, and there was a thin line of blood trickling down her arm from where some glass had cut her.
People are always quick to feel sorry for the underdog. And right now, she looked every bit the damsel in distress.
The woman started sobbing, her voice trembling, "Why would you do this to me? You already stole my boyfriend-how could you be so cruel?"
The woman could sense the crowd's sympathy shifting toward her, so she upped the waterworks, her tears streaming down her cheeks. She was twisting the truth, plain and simple.
Calliope rolled her eyes. "I stole your boyfriend, huh? Yeah, I pushed you. But as for stealing your boyfriend? Do you even have a boyfriend?"
Calliope was honestly baffled.
Who was this chick? She and Silas were married. When had Silas ever had anything to do with her?
She couldn't imagine Silas falling for someone like this. He wasn't an idiot like Gideon, who couldn't spot trouble if it bit him.
"No! You totally stole my boyfriend!" the woman insisted, her voice rising. "Silas, are you seeing this? She's bullying me! She threw wine on me and shoved me on purpose!"
She turned, glaring at Silas for support.
Calliope almost wanted to give her a round of applause-she sure knew how to put on a show.
But she was done explaining herself. She shot Silas a look, then asked the woman, "So, he's your boyfriend, huh?"
"Yes! He's my man!" the woman snapped, practically stamping her foot. "Silas, do something! She hurt me!"
By now, someone had helped her up, and she stuck out her bleeding arm for Silas to see. "Look! I'm bleeding!"
Silas looked her over with a frown. "Don't be ridiculous."
"Did you hear that?" Calliope said with a
to Silas. "Your man

Then she grinned wickedly. "Not only did I steal him, but I kissed him too!"
Before anyone could react, she grabbed Silas by his tie and yanked him toward her. Without another word, she kissed him, hard.
Silas's eyes went wide in shock.
Everyone else around them gawked, jaws practically on the floor.
"Whoa, that's intense!"
"Who is she? She's gorgeous and seriously feisty. I like her vibe."
"Isn't she Mr. Myers's date? Did he bring her tonight? Don't tell me she's his girlfriend now?"
"I thought Mr. Myers was dating Phoebe Turner?"
"No way, Phoebe's always chasing after him, but he never gives her the time of day."
"Yeah, I heard their families are just business partners."
Calliope let go of Silas, looking the
woman square in the eye, pure mischief in her expression. “See that? Your boyfriend, huh? I just
kissed him. What are you gonna do about it?" noveldrama
The woman let out a shrill scream, stomping her foot like she was about to have a meltdown.
"You-you little witch! How dare you! Who do you think you are, stealing my man like that? That's my boyfriend!"
She turned on Silas, wild-eyed. "Silas,
are you out of your mind? She
kissed you and you didn't even push
her away. When I try to hold your hand, you act like I've got cooties, but you let her kiss you in front of everyone?"
She looked about ready to explode, completely unable to process why Silas
hadn't shoved Calliope off.
What do you think?
