Chapter 752
She felt a little down. She'd always thought he remembered the kindness she'd shown him in the past.
But honestly, she knew he hadn't forgotten; it was just that they hadn't spent much time together these last few years. That was probably why he hadn't treated her any differently.
Once they started seeing each other more, he'd remember how good she'd been to him.
Blythe narrowed her eyes, a mix of hope and excitement bubbling up inside her. Who was Calliope, anyway? There was no way she could compete with Blythe. Blythe was, after all, the only daughter in the White family. Sure, she was adopted, but since the White's biological daughter had passed away, everything in that family now belonged to Blythe. She was the heir.
Someday, Silas would realize just how impressive she was, how much she could offer him-things Calliope could never even dream of.
As for Calliope? Please. Blythe knew that the Jewell family supporting her was a joke. Totally useless!
"Callie, aren't you going to ask why I helped that woman back there?"
After they walked away from the crowd, Silas couldn't help but ask Calliope, a hint of unease in his voice.
"Hm?" Calliope glanced at Silas. "Do I need a reason? If someone needs help, you just jump in. That's totally normal, isn't it? I would've done the same!"
She shrugged, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. "That mugger looked like bad news from a mile away."
"Helping people out just feels good, you know?" Calliope said it as if it barely mattered.
Silas looked at her for a moment, like he wanted to say something, but ended up keeping quiet.
He didn't want her to know too much, no point ruining her mood. They were out to have fun, after all. Even if she inevitably ran into Oliver, he'd do his best to steer clear or at least buy them some time.
"What's up?" Calliope asked. "Something on your mind?"
"Nope!" Silas grinned. "Oh, by the way, Uriah said he was coming. Wonder if he's here yet."
"Really?" Calliope raised an eyebrow.

"Not even to you?"

throwing under the bus, anyway. Especially if it's for my wife!"
"If Uriah heard you say that, he'd probably punch you!" Calliope burst out laughing.
"He can't hear me!" Silas laughed back.
"Oh, I can't huh? And here I was thinking my hearing was just fine Uriah strode up just in time to catch the last bit about throwing friends under the bus. His handsome face darkened instantly. '
He stared at Silas, incredulous. “You know I've always had your back, and this is how you treat me? Some friend!"noveldrama
He huffed. “Forget it, I'm going to find Mavis. Where is she?"
Calliope shot Uriah a long look, clearly realizing he hadn't heard the earlier part of their conversation. He had no idea that Mavis was off with Norton.
"No clue, we got separated," Calliope replied, all innocence.
"Seriously?" Uriah eyed her, suspicious she was just covering for Mavis.
"Honestly, I have no idea," Silas chimed in, putting on his most sincere face. "If I knew, I'd tell you. My wife never lies!"
What do you think?
