Billionaire Ex-wife: I Can't Live Without You

Chapter 2947

Music drifted softly into the silence, but Dulcies ears perked up after the first few songs.

These songs..

they were her favorites.

Since when did Kyson listen to her music? Had he always shared her taste, or was this something new? The questions buzzed at the back of her mind, but the tense atmosphere stopped her from asking.

If he wasnt going to speak first, she sure as hell wouldnt either.

So, the silence returned, persistent and cold, as they drove the rest of the way back to the house.

Inside the living room, they were greeted by the faint clink of porcelain.

Ryder sat casually on the sofa, sipping coffee, his eyes lifting lazily as they entered.

Kyson, Grandmas coming back soon. You know that, right? Yeah.

Kyson gave a nod, his reply as indifferent as always.

He then settled into his seat across from Ryder.

Ryder leaned forward slightly, his voice dropping just a touch.

You should pick her up with Dulcie.

You know how Grandma is.

If Sally goes, itll just stir up another argument.

Their grandmother, Nadia Shaw, had a way of getting under Sallys skin, poking and prodding until a quarrel inevitably broke out.

And like clockwork, Sally always ended up on the losing side.

In this house, their grandmothers word was law, and despite her cantankerous nature, she was cherished-spoiled even-as if age had made her the familys most fragile treasure.

Grandma heard about your marriage, Ryder added, standing up and smoothing his jacket.

Shell probably call tonight.

Ive got some work to handle at the company, so Im heading out.

With that, Ryder left, leaving Kyson and Dulcie alone once again in the vast, quiet house.

Dulcie shifted uncomfortably, putting a few more feet of distance between herself and Kyson.

She pulled out her phone, eyes flicking over the screen, her fingers fidgeting with the video she was pretending to watch.

Her mind, though, was far from focused.

Dulcie could feel the tension simmering just beneath the surface, but she didnt know how to bridge the gap.

Not anymore.

The two of them sat at a noticeable distance, an invisible barrier stretching between them. After what felt like an eternity, Kyson finally broke the silence.

He turned toward her, his gaze steady and unreadable.

I dont want Grandma to notice anythings wrong.

His words werent just a statement-they carried the weight of a warning.

Dulcie knew what he was getting at.

He wasnt asking for reconciliation or warmth; he just wanted to avoid his grandmothers sharp eyes and relentless questions.

I know my place, and I know what I need to do, Dulcie said, her tone still as cold as the winter air outside.

Kyson felt a flicker of frustration but bit back any sharp retort.noveldrama

The fragile peace between them was hard-earned, and he had no desire to shatter it.
