Bride of the Cursed Alpha (Auren and Lucien)

Rejected the alpha mate 238

Chapter 238

Summer POV

I couldn’t seem to stay away from him. The ache that tugged at the center of my heart was increasing by the day. It felt like my choice to stay away from Brad never existed. Within two weeks he had become my anchor.

But I also knew that he was a dream. Our interaction was temporary. He would never make me his Luna. By now I had come to know that he was the strongest Alpha in the North, just like his father. Probably stronger because he was the son of mated wolves. Whatever was between us would break the moment the trials were over. And then I would escape.

Honestly, my mind was in such turmoil that I had no idea of what was happening. When I was around him, I was so happy and satisfied, and when he wasn’t there, misery became me. I hadn’t slept well in the last few days, but last night I slept like a log. From the looks of it, even Brad slept deeply.

Last night was mind–blowing. Brad gave me more than two orgasms and I felt like I was floating in the air. I woke up with a delicious ache in my body, and a big smile. When I turned my head to the side, I found him sleeping on his stomach with his arm wrapped around me possessively. I couldn’t help staring at him, at the way God had carved him. He was like a Greek God coming alive.

My fingers went to his forehead where I lightly brushed his hair away. He stirred slightly and tightened his hold over me, pulling me closer. I gushed at the warmth swelling inside my chest. No one loved me, and now here he was. Even if this was just a temporary thing, I wanted to bask under it. Once the trials were over, I would disappear from here forever. I wondered if I should tell him about Laura’s call with her father.

Carefully, I pried his arm from me and got out of the bed. The Luna trial candidates were supposed to congregate in the conference hall where the next trial was to be announced. Quickly, I took a bath, changed into a yellow sundress and hurried to the conference room, leaving him still sleeping on my

bed.

“There she is!” Someone snickered as soon as I walked into the conference room. I snapped my head only to see Daisy and her friends standing in a group, and glaring at me like I had just threatened to snuff their life. Rolling my eyes, I walked toward the edge of the room–my favorite place because it hid me well from the eyes of the predators. That reminded me of Damon. I scanned the room to see if he was there, and to my utter disgust, he was. Standing at the far end of the room, he was talking to other Alphas. But his eyes fell on me and he lifted his lips in a smile as if to greet me. Another roll of eyes and I focused on those on the podium. This time along with Tamara, I also saw Luna Auren. Boy, she was the most mesmerizing woman I’d ever seen. Beautiful, elegant and had an unmistakable aura.

“How much do you want?” a voice broke my thoughts.

I turned my head only to see Daisy and her friends have come to stand near me. “What?” I asked, unable to understand what she wanted.

“I’m asking how much do you want?”

I blinked. “Want what?”

“Money, she said. “How much will it take to get you out of here?”

I felt like someone had poured ice water over my head. I stared at her incredulously. My eyes went to her group of three friends, all of whom were looking

at me with equal hatred. What was wrong with them? What had I done to them?

Anger swelled in my chest. Instead of backing off like I usually did, this time I crossed my arms across my chest. “You don’t have enough.

“Oh, so you have a price?” Daisy scoffed.

Freaking entitled bitches. I scoffed back, “In plain words, you all don’t have enough money to make me get out of the trials.”

Daisy took a step toward me, trying to threaten me as her eyes flashed golden. But I didn’t step back, getting used to these Alpha behaviors over the last two weeks. “Leave these trials or we are going to put a motion against you. Humans shouldn’t be allowed to enter Luna trials. You are inferior to us in every way. So just fuck off and go back to your world. I am giving you a good exit. Take the money, and leave.”

I narrowed my eyes on her. “And if I do that, you’ll not leave an opportunity to disgrace me? You won’t go around telling people that I was too greedy and took your money to leave the trials?”noveldrama

She tilted her head. “No, I won’t,” she replied. “So does that mean that you’ll leave?

“Why do you care so much if I’m here?” I asked. “I’m not the real threat here. You should be least bothered about me, because in your own word humans are inferior to you.”

Daisy gritted her teeth. “I want you to leave because I hate you!”

I chuckled. “Then you should leave, because I don’t like you too.”

You-

I put my hand up to stop her. “I’m not leaving the trials, Daisy. Do what you want to. And shove that money up your ass. I’ve had enough of you. After today, don’t come to talk to me!”

Her eyes widened at my words. Her friends started growling, but I growled back at them. Wow. For a human I had a great growl. Eyes in the room snapped toward us, but I maintained my confident stance. Daisy and her friends left in a huff but not before sending that glare at me which said that this wasn’t over. From the periphery of my vision, I saw Alpha Bradley leaning against the door of the room, watching me with a smirk on his face. Heat flooded my cheeks, and there went all of my confidence.

He sauntered toward me, picking up a glass of orange juice from a server’s tray. He offered it to me, and said, “I loved that. You’re becoming bolder.

God, my knees were wobbly. “Thank you,” I managed to say. My eyes went to those around us, and I noticed that everyone was stealing glances at us.

“Attention everyone!” Tamara’s voice reached our ears. “We will be announcing the next contest for Luna trials.”

An excited murmur broke out in the room.

Excuse me, Luna Tamara!” Daisy said loudly. “There’s something we would like to say before the commencement of next trials.”

Tamara nodded. “You may speak.”

Luna Auren watched her, her eyes narrowing, like she didn’t like the interference.

Daisy stepped in front along with her friends. “After two weeks of trials, my friends and I have a very important suggestion. One that can’t be ignored.”

Tamara sighed, and nodded again. “What is it?”

“The Luna trials are all about the potential she–wolves meeting the Alphas to become their Lunas,” Daisy started. “Only the she–wolves know how to be the Lunas. They are born and brought up in an environment where they see it closely. Then why have you allowed a human to be a part of the trials?” She looked over her shoulder at me. “She should be removed from the trials. A human isn’t what the Alphas are looking for!”

Disbelief exploded in my chest. She had gone to such lengths to publicly ask for my removal. What was her problem? How could she do this to me? Blood drained from my face as people looked at me, some with concern, and some with scorn.

Brad moved closer to me, a growl vibrating in his chest, as if challenging them to come near me. “What nonsense is this?he barked.

Daisy flinched, but she continued, “We should have a voting to determine what all of us want. We can’t allow a human to enter the Luna trials. This is ridiculous!”

“Yes!” her friends supported her, and a few from the crowd behind them.

My eyes went to Damon, who was leaning against a window ledge, watching it all with a smile. Like he finally got a chance to eat the canary.

“Are you done?” Luna Auren said in a cold voice.

Daisy opened her mouth and then shut it close, nodding.

“So what you’re basically saying is that you want the human girl to leave?

“Yes Luna. She is no way in our league. We are a superior breed.”

“Isn’t your father Alpha of the Graymoon pack?”

“Yes, Luna,” Daisy replied proudly,

“Then doesn’t he know about the treaty with humans? Or the latest clause that humans have introduced in the treaty?

Daisy gulped. “–”

82%

“Either you are stupid, or you think you can fool the rest of us,” Luna Auren fumed. “If you want to erase that clause from the treaty, I suggest that you your father to approach the joint human–wolves council and get it erased. Until then, the trials will continue!” Luna Auren paused for a moment before adding, “And so voting is out of the question!”

“I- you know–it…” Daisy stuttered. Her friends stepped back, looking like idiots.

People snickered from behind, while some openly laughed. As for me, I couldn’t help feeling ecstatic. Luna Auren was really something.

Luna Auren ignored her and looked at Tammy. “You can announce the next trials.”

Tammy shook her head as she chuckled. “As a leader, the Luna often has to organize and oversee the pack’s resources, including food. The next trial is a cooking challenge, where contestants have to feed a large group of people under time constraint. This will test their organizational and leadership skills.”
