Don’t Fall for the Billionaire Lover

Chapter 1098

Everyone was heavy with grief.

But there was no turning back now. All they could do was face it together.

Ruby and Neil led the way, their hearts almost too heavy to carry. Connor was the kind of kid who made you want to protect him, the kind that made your heart ache just thinking about him. What scared them even more was the thought of Chloe- would she have the strength to go on after losing Connor?

But right now, they couldn't think about that. The pain of losing someone they loved was all-consuming. They'd survived storms and seen it all in their lifetimes, but even the strongest can falter; their steps were slow, like their legs were filled with lead.

They hadn't even made it to the bedside before a voice-one they hadn't heard in so long, but would recognize anywhere-broke the silence.

"Babe, stop crying. If you keep going, you're gonna flood the whole room..."

Neil and Ruby both froze, stunned.

The voice wasn't loud, but it was enough for everyone crowded by the door to hear. In a split second, the whole group went still.

Isaac stood there, dumbfounded for a moment, then hurried over to the bed.

It was only when he got close that he saw Connor-eyes wide open, clear and bright, staring straight at Chloe.

Isaac nearly screamed, "Why aren't you dead?!”

That finally got Connor's attention. He frowned at Isaac. "Isaac, are you wishing I was dead?"

Isaac was so stunned he almost forgot to breathe. In his heart, he was completely overwhelmed-Connor wasn't just alive, he was awake. It felt like the best news in the world.

Even so, he couldn't help but grumble, "Not exactly, but you being alive is going to make it really hard to explain things to everyone."

The people outside rushed in, crowding the room. It didn't take long for everyone to figure out what had happened.

Ruby was exasperated and furious all at once. "You two-how did you manage to turn something so wonderful into such a mess?"

What should've been pure joy had almost become a tragedy.

Isaac looked wounded. "I walked in and saw Chloe bawling her eyes out. How was I supposed to know he wasn't gone?"

Neil shot them both a look. "Marian fainted from shock-now get over there, apologize in person, and explain everything."

Everyone in the room felt like they'd just been on an emotional roller coaster. From heartbreak to happiness, it was enough to make anyone's heart skip a beat.

But in the end, things turned out okay.

The doctor rushed in, arranging every test imaginable for Connor. The verdict? Another medical miracle.

But really, the world doesn't hand out miracles that easily. What gets you through

is love that never gives up and a refusal to let go.noveldrama

After Connor woke up, his recovery was fast. Within a day, he was off all the machines. Three days later he started eating again. By the end of the week, he could get out of bed.

Still, his body had paid a price. Muscles had wasted away, and his legs had been shattered once they couldn't hold his weight anymore. Walking was out of the question. The wheelchair was his new reality.

The doctor said he'd probably never walk again. If there was any hope of recovery, it would take years—maybe more than a decade.

But to Chloe, none of that mattered.

Connor was alive. He'd come back to her. That was all she needed.

And she'd be there for him, every step of the way, no matter how long it took.

Connor was discharged on Tim's birthday.

The party was at the old Sartori estate. This year, it was a quiet celebration-just close friends and family: the Shaws, the Gilberts, and a few others. The Moncada family

came too, and Leah and Ann were

brought over from Riverbrook.

It was less of a party, more of a family gathering-but somehow, that made it even

more special.
