Chapter 807 Come Now
Phoebe didn't dare to object and quickly put on his trench coat. She obediently sat in the back seat and watched as Theodore drove the car out and soon onto the main
road.
The entire way, neither of them spoke again, and the atmosphere in the car was so oppressive that it made one want to escape.
This time, Theodore drove directly into Lakeview Estates and stopped outside Phoebe's house, where the lights were on.
Just as Phoebe was about to push open the car door and get out, Theodore's cold voice suddenly came from the front, "Not inviting me in for a sit?"
"Well..." Phoebe hesitated.
Theodore sneered and looked at her, "Before, you kept making excuses because you were hiding the triplets at home. Now that I know about them, what are you afraid of?"
Thinking about how she had kept him in the dark for so long, Theodore wanted to strangle her.
Of course, Phoebe was scared. Given his current irrational state, how could she dare to bring him inside? "It's too late today, maybe another day."
Theodore was very rebellious. If Phoebe invited him in, he might just drive away.
But since she continued to make excuses, he decided not to leave.
"No matter how late it is, there's always time for a cup of coffee," Theodore said, then turned off the engine, opened the car door, got out, and walked to the front door.
Phoebe walked over slowly, and after fingerprint recognition, the door opened. It was too late, and the children were already asleep.
In the living room, Pamela and Elijah were still waiting. Seeing Phoebe bring a stranger back, Elijah quickly went to make coffee.
"Elijah, Pamela, you two go to bed. Don't worry about us."
Pamela saw Theodore walk in and couldn't help but feel guilty. Hearing Phoebe tell them to rest, she didn't dare stay any longer and quickly went back to her room.
Only Phoebe and Theodore were left in the living room. He stood there, looking around. The living room was filled with colorful toys.
He felt a mix of emotions, sat down on the sofa, and picked up a doll that Noomi had been holding when he had last encountered the triplets.
Phoebe came out with coffee and saw Theodore holding the doll, with Ollie circling his legs. She paused.
She knew that this matter wouldn't easily pass in Theodore's mind.
She carried the coffee cup over, placed it on the table, bent down to pick up Ollie, and gently stroked its fur. "Since you're here today, do you want to take Ollie back with you?"
Theodore squinted his eyes, threw the doll back on the sofa, and looked at Phoebe coldly. "What, now that you have the triplets, you're in a hurry to get rid of Ollie?"
She was choked by his words and awkwardly said, "You know that's not what I mean. Of course, I want Ollie to stay."
Theodore sat in the living room, looking at the toys, his heart aching to the point of suffocation. He suddenly stood up and walked towards the door without saying a word.
The door slammed shut with a loud noise, and Ollie, in Phoebe's arms, bristled and looked around warily. She quickly soothed it, "It's okay, go to sleep."
Ollie soon lay back down comfortably. The sound of an engine starting came from outside the villa, and the car drove away, restoring peace to the yard.
Phoebe closed her eyes. From now on, Theodore probably wouldn't come looking for her again. He was such a proud person, and after confirming the existence of the triplets, he surely wouldn't want to have anything to do with her for the rest of his life. She took a deep breath. Even though this was the result she wanted, she couldn't shake the feeling of discomfort in her heart.
Ruby had been taking care of Evelyn in the hospital all night. She was so tired that she fell asleep at the bedside, but her phone suddenly vibrated, waking her up.
Seeing the caller ID, she instinctively glanced at Evelyn on the bed. Seeing that she was sleeping soundly, she picked up the phone and walked out of the ward. "Hello?"
"What time is it? Why aren't you here yet?" Donovan's angry voice came through the phone, making Ruby's ear hurt even through the phone.
She held the phone a bit farther away and lowered her voice, "I'm at the hospital right now. I might not have time to come today!"
"What did you say?" Donovan interrupted her coldly. "Ruby, is this what you call atonement? Coming and going as you please?"
"I really have something to do." Ruby tried to reason with him.
However, Donovan didn't listen at all. "If you don't come today, don't bother coming at all."noveldrama
Ruby was about to speak, but Donovan had already hung up the phone decisively. She looked at the darkened screen and took a deep breath.
Phoebe walked out of the elevator with breakfast and saw Ruby standing at the door of the ward, looking worried. She quickly walked over, "What's wrong, Ruby? Is my mom..."
"Evelyn is fine. I just got a call. My boss won't let me take leave and is urging me to go to work." Ruby looked troubled.
Phoebe said, "Then go to work. I brought you breakfast. Eat it before you go."
"No time, Phoebe. I'll come back after work to relieve you." Ruby turned into the ward, grabbed her bag, and left in a hurry.
Phoebe placed the breakfast on the round table and sat down by the bed, staring at Evelyn in a daze.

She had heavy dark circles under her eyes. She hadn't slept well for even an hour last night. Every time she fell into a deep sleep, she was jolted awake by nightmares.
Sometimes it was Theodore coming to take the children, saying she owed him and he wanted to take the triplets as repayment, not letting her see them.
Other times, she dreamed of what happened three years ago in room 8888 at the hotel.
Even more absurdly, the nightmare turned into a sex dream, with Theodore above her, his body moving up and down.
The bite mark tattoo turned into a black butterfly ready to take flight.
Phoebe slapped herself hard. What was she thinking? If Theodore knew she was dreaming of him as the man in room 8888, he would probably want to strangle her. "Why are you hitting yourself?" Evelyn's hoarse voice sounded in her ear.
Phoebe looked up and saw Evelyn opening her eyes. She quickly got up to help her sit up. "Mom, how are you feeling now?"
"My head is still a bit dizzy." Evelyn leaned against the pillow. "How did you handle last night's matter? That woman started cursing as soon as she opened her mouth. If I were a few years younger, I would have given her a piece of my mind."
Phoebe said, "It's already been handled. You don't need to worry. Are you hungry? I bought breakfast. Have some first."
Evelyn watched her busying around and couldn't help but sigh. "I've told you before, a family needs a man. When Edward proposed to you, it would have been great if you had accepted."
"Mom!" Phoebe called softly. "That's all in the past. Why bring it up again? Besides, I run a company now and can support the family. Why rely on a man?"
"With a man in the house, people in the community wouldn't gossip, saying you're someone's mistress. The kids are still young now, but when they grow up and hear those rumors, what will they think?" Evelyn nagged.
Two single women with children inevitably became the subject of gossip. After this incident, she realized that the triplets and Ethan needed a father.
What do you think?
