Chapter 434
"I wouldn't drop the charges, not in a million years. I'm not some saint. After what
you did to me, you really think I'd just let it go? Keep dreaming."
She'd been drugged.
Six men had attacked her-violated her-and they'd even recorded it.
It was sick. Unforgivable.
Carolyn shook with anger, her whole body trembling. She'd never thought the woman she called her best friend would actually help hurt her like this.
When Carolyn made it clear she wasn't backing down, Cindy-still on her knees- suddenly stopped. She snapped her head up, her eyes cold and full of hate.
"Can't drop the case, huh?" Cindy's face twisted, nothing like the scared, pitiful girl from a minute ago.
"Cut the act, Carolyn. Stop pretending you're so pure." Cindy's eyes were burning, her voice sharp. “Did you ever really see me as a friend? All these years, you handed me your leftovers, your old clothes, your used purses and makeup. What did you take me for? Your trash can? Or just a dog you keep around?"
Carolyn stared at her, stunned, her brows furrowed in disbelief.
"How could you think that? I knew your family had a hard time, so I tried to help. I'd always buy extra snacks so I could share with you. You think those were just my leftovers? And the clothes-I bought them in your size on purpose because I wanted to give you something new. The purses and makeup were all brand new too. I only said they weren't my style so you wouldn't feel weird accepting them. I just wanted you to feel comfortable."
"Cindy, you've always been a really good friend to me." Carolyn's voice broke, tears streaming down her cheeks. "I never thought you'd see my kindness this way."
Cindy laughed coldly. "Oh, give it a rest, Carolyn. You're the rich girl, and I'm the poor one who should be grateful for your scraps, right? You think you're so generous-but do you have any idea what people used to say about me at school?"
"They called me your maid. Your lapdog. Your ugly sidekick, just there to make you look better. Don't pretend you never heard them. You knew you liked it, didn't you? Having mes the ugly duckling next to you, made you look even more perfect. Carolyn, you're nothing but a fake, two-faced bitch."
Carolyn stumbled back, eyes empty, her heart heavy and aching.
A wave of dizziness hit her. She nearly lost her balance.
Allison caught her. “Ms. Witt, are you okay?"
Carolyn shook her head, looking lost. "I'm fine."
...
When they left the police station, Carolyn's eyes were blank, her face expressionless—like a puppet with its strings cut.noveldrama
Allison helped her into the car, then turned to Brooklyn, who was already in the driver's seat Brooklyn, please

Ms. Witt home."
Allison and Carolyn sat in the back together.
Carolyn didn't say a word the whole ride.
Allison glanced at her now and then, worry written all over her face.
Maybe it was that look, or maybe Carolyn just couldn't keep it all inside anymore. After a long stretch of silence she finally spoke, her voice barely more than a whisper-fragile and raw.
"It wasn't like that."
What do you think?
