Chapter 741
The next day rolled around.
Eliza and Casper made their way downstairs from their bedroom, with plans to check out the scene later on. But first, breakfast was on the agenda. As they settled into the dining area, a familiar figure caught Eliza's eye... Gabe.
Eliza was momentarily taken aback. She had already told him not to come yesterday. Was there something urgent going on? Was it about her?
"Mr. Gillum," Eliza quickly approached Gabe, curiosity evident in her voice, "What brings you here? Is there something else?"
Gabe offered a warm, understated smile. "The incident happened at a convention center our company had previously scouted. I came by to see how things are."
Eliza took his word for it, but Casper wasn't so easily convinced. His eyes held a mix of suspicion and disapproval as he looked at Gabe.
"Mr. Gillum, you sure are dedicated, coming all the way here in the rain despite the chaos. Really admirable," Casper said, his tone dripping with sarcasm.
Gabe's demeanor remained calm, unbothered by Casper's mocking. "Small companies like ours have to stay on top of things, or we risk losing out on opportunities."
"We're heading to the site to take a look too. Want to come with?" Eliza invited.noveldrama
"Sure thing," Gabe replied without hesitation.
Casper just... well, he wasn't thrilled.
After breakfast, they all headed to the site. Officials were already compiling a list of victims, and the area was under tight security. They couldn't venture further in.
"Seems like we'll have to head back to Falconridge and wait it out,” Eliza said, her thoughts distant. The shuttle had left, but the shadow of the tragedy lingered. "Sticking around will only add to the gloom."
"What about the convention?" Gabe asked, thinking ahead. "Is it still on schedule, or...?"
"I've informed the clients. Work has
to continue as planned. Despite the disruption, your company will handle all three themes this time." She had faith in Gabe's company. "MP Gillum, you won't let me down, right?"
“Absolutely not, you can count on us," Gabe assured her.
As they traveled, Gabe and Eliza discussed the convention details. Meanwhile, Casper and Dillon sat in the back, feeling a bit like outsiders.
"Mr. Casper, should we push forward with our business plans with Allysha? The new products are launching soon, and we haven't shot the ad yet," Dillon said, keeping his voice low.
Casper gave a small nod, "Go ahead and set it up."
"Will do."
Back at the hotel, Eliza and Gabe continued their conversation for a while before heading to their rooms. Eliza was constantly busy, her phone buzzing with updates on the е accident. Casper, on the other hand, was feeling a bit sidelined.
"When are we heading back to Falconridge?" she asked, eyes glued to her phone
as her fingers flew over the screen. "The rescue team just called with a list. I need to get back to Falconridge ASAP."
Casper remained silent. After sending her message, Eliza finally looked up at him. "I'm talking to you."
Casper sat by the window, not meeting her gaze, not saying a word.
Sensing something was off, she put her phone down, walked over, and plopped onto his lap. "What's up? Feeling left out?"
"Do you even remember you have a husband in between all the work and employees?" he pouted, sounding like a kid who felt left out. "Am I even on your radar?"
"Of course you are. How could I
forget?" She wrapped her arms around his neck, smiling as she playfully rubbed her nose against his. "It's just that everything happened all at once. Once things settle down, we'll get back to
planning our wedding."
"You still remember the wedding, huh? I was beginning to think you'd forgotten,"
he teased, getting a bit more melodramatic.
What do you think?
