I Rejected You, Alpha

ELEIA’S POV

—

My head keeps on lolling to the side as my eyes fall shut .

I haven’t felt this type of exhaustion before in my life .

People use the phrase ‘worried to death’ when they are or were worried and I guess all of that makes sense now because it feels like I want to fall into a deep slumber and just never wake up .

The doctor comes out with a relieved expression and my hopes turn into peace .

“He is just fine . But the healing process can take up to three or more days .” The doctor nods before walking off and I feel healed .

Being free from pain and stress is also overwhelming , but it’s relaxing as well .

“Do you think we can go see him ?” The words fall from my lips as if I was sleep talking .

Everything feels so slow , so artificial .

“I think so .” Stefan murmurs before standing up and he holds out his hand to help me up .

I stare at him palm for a few seconds before taking his hand and he yanks me up as if I weighed nothing .

“Come .” We walk down the hallway just as the nurses leave his room .

“He’s still going to sleep for another hour maybe .” The nurse bows before walking off .

“Does that mean we can’t go in ?” I stand with my hand against the frame of the door , glancing inside at my mate’s wrapped up arm and unconscious state .

“We can .” Stefan shrugs , “They just told us when he’ll be awake in case we would want to come back later .” He explains before I walk into the room .

“I’m going to check on Rosie and come back after a shower .” He scratches his nape and I nod , not being able to break my gaze from my mate .

I round his bed , taking his hand in mine .

I shouldn’t cry , but it’s too late to stop the tears that are forming in my eyes .

“You’re okay .” I mumble , sniffing .

“And I’m okay and so is Felix .” My voice gets softer as the tears threaten to just overflow .

“And I love you so you better wake up soon .” I crack a smile , but as my cheeks raise from the smile , my eyes narrow and hot tears roll down my cheeks , a few drops falling on my lips .

I pull the chair closer with my free hand and sit down , resting my face on his knuckles .

I can’t stop thinking about how this could have happened .. did he try and end Elizabeth and she somehow snatched his syringe and stab him first ?noveldrama

But there was no reason to do that because I already stabbed her.. or I didn’t empty it into her and she used whatever was left to stab him , to kill him..

Or some of her goons did it.. but why didn’t he just say anything ?

Why did Stefan have to see him collapse for him to notice something was wrong..

Why didn’t I notice that something was wrong ?

I should have felt it , I should have known that thwas something wrong .

ELEIA’S POV

My head keeps on lolling to the side as my eyes fall shut .

“I’m sorry .” I mumble as I squeeze his hand .

“I am so sorry .” The sob rips through me and I have no energy to stop it .

“I should have known there was something wrong , I should have felt it . I am sorry I was caught up with Felix .” I shaky my head as tears flow down my face .

I freeze as his hand squeezes mine , sparks erupting in my aching heart as I sit up .

“Aiden ?” I mumble as I wipe my cheek , staring at him with a blank expression and he squeezes my hand again , clearing his throat before opening his eyes .

I absentmindedly stand , hovering over him .

My hand rests on his warm cheek , “Hi .” I smile as he slowly blinks , looking as if he were in pain .

“Are you okay ?”

I feel like I am bombarding him with questions , but the relief I feel is unexplainable .

He nods , his apple bobbing in his throat .

His head turns to the side and he points with his finger to the water , grunting when he lifts his sore arm .

“Okay , just keep still .” I rush around the bed , bumping into multiple things before I pour water from the jug into the plastic cup , grabbing a straw before holding it up for him to drink from .

He looks like he’s in so much pain , like he’s suffering over and over again .

He pops the straw out of his mouth when he’s done and I sit the cup down before turning to him .

“Should I call the doctor ?” I point with one of my thumbs behind me to the door while fiddling with my shirt and before I could turn to get the doctor , he grabs my hand , pulling me towards him .

“Stay .” His deep voice holds command .

I nod , smiling as I slip my hand out from his burned arm one and I move to the other side of him in fear that I might hurt him

“What happened ?” He asks so cluelessly that it makes my heart sink an inch .

He doesn’t even remember .

“We got Felix back .” The forced smile is not working , “And you got stabbed .” I frown , “I .. I don- don’t know h-how .” I stutter , feeling like a freak for a second .

I never had problems with my words before .

“Who’s Felix ?” He frowns and my heart drops into my stomach .

“What ?” I breathe out .

A smile tugs at his lips , his eyes narrowing , “I’m kidding . I’m glad he’s safe .” He rubs his thumb over my knuckles .

“Don’t do that .” I grit out in warning .

“It was funny .” He shrugs , “The hell it was .” I argue , “That just hurt .”

Shaking my head , he lifts his hand and cups my cheek , tugging me closer by just a look .

“I love you .” He breathes out hoarsely .

“I love you .” I sniff .

A few minutes later , Stefan strides in with Rosie and Felix .

“He was getting fussy and I bet he just wanted his mom .” Rosie cradles him in her arms , making my heart melt at the sight of her being very aunty .

She might think that she’s infertile , but she isn’t . She will have kids , maybe right now just isn’t the time for it to happen .

“Hi baby .” I smile as I leave Aiden’s side to take Felix from her and she happily hands him over .

“Next time , give me a day’s heads up when I need to look after the little smush .” Her hands tighten and I stare down at him , smiling devilishly , “Did you give aunty Rosie a tough time ?” I squeal .

Rosie scoffs , “A tough time of screaming and pooping every half hour .” She blows out a breath .

“It’s nice to smell other air other than the stench he leaves .” She grits out , making me giggle as I go sit next to Aiden’s bed .

His hand reaches for Felix and I hold him closer .

Felix’s tinny fingers wrap around Aiden’s finger and my heart melts at the sight of them physically bonding .

“They’re all dead .” Stefan announces , dragging Aiden’s attention to him .

“And the bodies ?” He croaks .

“Cleaned up . Burnt and buried .” Stefan smiles , looking at Aiden with guilt in his eyes .

“Look …” Stefan starts , scratching his nape .

“I didn’t mean to abandon you .” He frowns , “Eleia and Felix were in danger and I just leaped to save them . I forgot I had to protect you too .” He gulps and it breaks my heart that he thinks this is his fault .

“Come here .” Aiden waves him over with his other hand that’s sore .

Stefan uncomfortably steps closer with his eyes glued to the tiled floor .

“You did what I wanted you to do . You protected my mate and my kid .” I shouldn’t be selfish right now because it is their moment but hearing Aiden call Felix his kid makes my heart melt .

“That’s what I want you to do always , got it ?” Aiden demands and Stefan nods .

“Now stop feeling guilty and take your mate home to go rest . Don’t break the place while I’m not there .” He teases , making a smile appear on his beta’s face .

Rosie and Stefan leave , but I stay .

I don’t want to be without him for another second .

“You should go with them .” He nods towards the door .

“I’m not leaving you .” I scoff as if there were no other option .

“You have to take care of Felix .” His eyebrows raise and I hate that he played the baby card on me right now .

“We can sleep here .” I shrug and he shakes his head .

“No , Felix needs a good warm relaxing bath and so do you when he’s eventually asleep . So go and then come back to visit tomorrow . I’m going to sleep now anyways too .” His smile is crooked while his eyes fall shut .

“Okay .” I blow out a breath before standing and I lean forward , placing a k**s on his chapped lips before leaving to go home .
