River had already started to notice something-Serenity was just waiting to see when he'd finally break the ice.noveldrama

She wanted to stay in Eaglioncile with the kids for the summer, just to watch how River's story unfolded.

Of course, that was just wishful thinking. In ten days, she'd be heading back. On one hand, she had her own businesses to run. Tania had handed over the

York family's household matters to her, so she was now in charge of both her own affairs and the various smaller businesses under the York name.

The York family owned several properties that brought in rental income. Serenity didn't go out and collect the rent herself, but she had to handle the books. Her plate was full.

Another reason she had to return soon was Zachary. He didn't want her staying in Eaglioncile that long. He told her to take the kids for a week, have fun, and then come back.

But Serenity thought a week was too short. She had to persuade Zachary to let her stay ten days instead.

Zachary agreed to cover for her business-wise-no problem there. The issue was that he'd be stuck alone in an empty house. And for a man who loved his wife more than life itself, not seeing her for ten days was unbearable. He also joked that their son would use this time to steal all the affection.

Serenity didn't know whether to laugh or cry-Zachary was even jealous of his own son.

He always competed with their son for her affection. But deep down, he loved their boy dearly. He was just stricter with him. Their daughter, on the other hand, was the apple of his eye. He pampered her endlessly, calling her the York family's treasured princess.

Zachary believed that their son needed to be raised right. Even if he didn't take over the family business, he should be strong enough to support and protect his little sister.

"Hearing all this makes me itch to go see it myself!" the old lady said with excitement. "When you have time, invite Romina out for dinner or shopping. Get a feel for her character, spend time with her, and help create opportunities for River."

Serenity chuckled. "Of course, Grandma. Romina's super friendly. She even offered to be our tour guide said she'd show us around and take us to try all the local food. She said River isn't nearly as familiar with Eaglioncile as she is."

"I didn't want to trouble her, but we did exchange numbers. When I have time, I'll call her for dinner."

Serenity then told the old lady more details about River and Romina's recent interactions.

The old lady laughed. "River got slapped and still found a way to rely on her. That girl from the Lafond family clearly isn't as sly as River. If he wasn't interested, he wouldn't have clung to her like that."

"And River isn't the kind to just let things slide."

"If they were truly enemies, he would've called the police after she slapped him and had her locked up for a few years."

Romina was interesting too.

Seeing a woman near River, she immediately jumped in and stirred things up. That showed she cared-she didn't like the idea of another woman by his side. Maybe after years of fighting, the two of them had grown feelings for each other without realizing it.

What a show.

The old lady sighed. She regretted being too old to travel and see it all in person. Her kids and grandkids wouldn't let her travel far, and she didn't have the energy to sneak off and fly around like she used to.

Alas, age catches up with everyone. The body just isn't what it used to be, year by year.
