Mommy,We Got a Husband

Chapter 423 Divorcing Him Is Your Only Chance to Stay Alive

Hearing the kids talk like that, Alaric felt a warm fuzzy feeling inside. No worries about them at all.

After feeding Alaric breakfast, the three kiddos cleaned up and got ready for school.

Once they were in the car, Harry was the first to pipe up, "Lately, they gotta be hiding something from us, and it's something big."

"Isn't that obvious?" Caspian shot back.

"Is there some bad dude trying to mess with Daddy and Mommy? No way I'm letting that slide!" Elisa fumed.

"Daddy's not doing so hot right now, and Mommy's swamped. We gotta step up," Harry said. "How about we dig into that Tommy guy? Daddy said to steer clear of him, so he must be bad news. He played us good before, and it ticks me off just thinking about it. He totally fooled us!"

"Yeah, we used to call him Uncle Tommy all sweet-like, and it was all a sham. That's low, tricking kids? What a jerk!" Elisa ranted.

Caspian frowned a bit but gently reminded, "Elisa, I think Harry's onto something. Maybe cut back on those TV dramas and adult romance shows; they're not doing you any favors."

"Alright." If Harry had said that, Elisa might've argued, but with Caspian saying it, she had no comeback. "I'll switch it up."

"Harry, aren't you a whiz with computers? Then dig up everything on Tommy. We gotta help Daddy and Mommy," Caspian said.

"Okay, anyone who messes with kids is gonna pay!" Harry said, all fired up.

Tommy might've had a hunch, 'cause he sneezed right then. He rubbed his nose and kept working on his computer.

The phone on his desk rang, and Tommy picked it up right away, "Mr. Vale."

Ambrose ordered, "Get to my office."

Tommy hustled over to Ambrose's office and asked, "Mr. Vale, what's up?"

"I got a job for you." Ambrose had promised to give Alaric a piece of land for free, and Silas had been pushing for it, so he couldn't stall any longer.

Ambrose said, "I promised Alaric some land, but Stuart can't know about it, so the money can't come from the company. You're in charge. I'll wire the money to your overseas account. Make it all under your name, and then work with Silas. Just make sure no one can trace it back to me."

"Got it, don't worry, Mr. Vale. I'll take care of it." Tommy took the order and left.

Ambrose hadn't locked down his position yet, and Stuart was still breathing down his neck. He had to be super careful not to give Stuart any ammo.

After Tommy left, Ambrose grabbed his car keys and headed out. He was going to meet Stellan.

Yesterday at the meeting, Stellan had promised to get the project back on track within three days. Tomorrow, she'd go to the authroity to test the waters.noveldrama

Stellan went in person but only got a half-hearted response, neither a yes nor a no.

But from what they said, just like Cormac had mentioned, they were feeling the heat from the public and didn't want to greenlight the project until the uproar died down.

On the flip side, their project's safety had been checked over and over, so they were in a tight spot and said they needed to hash it out in a meeting.

After leaving, Stellan got into the car and let out a big sigh, feeling like getting the project back on track in three days was gonna be a tough nut to crack.

If this thing didn't get sorted, the higher-ups would jump at the chance to rip into Stellan. So, no matter what, she had to make it happen.

The driver started the car, and Stellan leaned back in her seat, getting some shut-eyes. She'd stayed up late last night and was feeling wiped out. "Ms. Storm," the driver called out carefully when he saw Stellan wake up from a quick nap.

Stellan asked, "What's up?"

"There's a car behind us that seems to be tailing us." The driver, set up by Alaric, was specially trained and super alert.

Hearing this, Stellan turned to look. She couldn't see who was in the car, but she had a pretty good idea.

"Ms. Storm, should we lose them?" the driver asked.

"No need," Stellan said instead, "Hit the brakes."

Hearing this, the driver braked hard. Ambrose's car was following close, so the sudden stop made his car rear-end Stellan's. Stellan got out first, and Ambrose had no choice but to confront her.

"When did you get so sharp? You even noticed I was tailing you," Ambrose said approvingly, "No wonder you're the CEO now."

Stellan snapped, "This is stalking. Do you want me to call the cops?"

"Call the cops?" Ambrose frowned. "You're a big shot now. If you call the cops, the one in charge won't be some low-level guy, maybe even Neil."

"He's got a real bad impression of me, super hostile. But he's not exactly friendly to you either. He's a stickler, always wanting to enforce the law by the book."

"Since Marigold's death, you've always been a suspect in his eyes. I know the two witnesses Alaric found for you are bogus. Do you think calling the cops will work out for you?"

"I've got nothing to hide, unlike you, with all that blood on your hands. You're the one who should be scared." Stellan looked at the banged-up car and said, "I heard from Alaric that you just gave us a piece of land. Looks like you'll have to cough up for a new car now."

"It's nothing." Ambrose walked closer to Stellan and lowered his voice. "I've got something big to tell you. It's crucial for you, so you gotta listen." Stellan stayed quiet.

Ambrose said, "The Storm Family case is tied to the Vale Family; you should've known that by now. But what I want to tell you is that the mastermind isn't Stuart. Last time, I overheard him on the phone, reporting to someone, probably his boss. So, there's someone above him. But I don't know who that is."

"Why are you suddenly telling me this?" Stellan couldn't wrap her head around Ambrose's motives.

Ambrose explained, "I'm genuinely worried about your safety. Anyone who can make Stuart bow down isn't someone to mess with. Even though you're the Storm Family member involved, you're not a threat to them. But Alaric is different. If you stick with him, you're just gonna end up dead. I really can't stand to see that. Divorce him, and I'll put you somewhere safe. I'll help you uncover the truth about the Storm Family being framed. I'm really doing this for your own good."
