My Four Miraculous Treasures

Chapter 279

Frank recounted this story with mounting fury and grief.

Originally, he hadn't cared about Serene's humble origins. His son liked her, that was what mattered.

However, come to think of it... if not through seduction and deceit, how else could a woman have propelled herself so far up the ladder of social standing? She'd defeated the young daughters of noble houses, going all the way to claim a position by the side of no less than Aiden Hughes himself!

From rags to riches overnight... such a feat could only have been achieved by an immoral temptress, a pretentious manipulator of men.

Such a woman would never be content, even after achieving her ultimate goals. A leopard never changed its spots; a hoe never stopped digging. Sidelining her own husband, embroiling her own household in strife...

In the end, she'd even cost his son his own life.

Every time he remembered his son's fate and folly, Frank's heart broke again.noveldrama

A fine young man, with such a promising future..... all gone to waste now, because of one woman.

Because Frank was digging the past back up in such dramatic detail, Cindy's tears began flowing uncontrollably, reminded of her son's tragic demise.

None of this information about his parents was news to Jasper, but it was the first time he'd ever heard his grandfather talking about it himself.

Hearing all this now, his composure wavered, and he turned to regard the old man solemnly.

As a child, he'd already learned about his mother's infidelity, and how she'd repeatedly defied his father to go out and meet with the other man.

It was the reason why they were always arguing, always fighting.

As a child, their quarrels were frightening to see. He was terrified that he might lose his home, his family...

As an adult, he still often dreamed of their vicious arguments, objects being thrown everywhere, broken glass strewn all across the floor... and then he'd awaken, drenched in cold sweat.

Childhood traumas took the rest of one's lifetime to heal.

Jasper blamed the other man for tearing his family apart. However, he hadn't been aware that the man had also been involved in the death of his parents!

Because his mother had run off to be with that man, and his father had chased after her... that was what had led to the car crash which killed them!

"Jasper, if you're not interested in getting married yet, then your grandmother and I will say no more on the topic. Just, please... don't make the same mistake your father did. Frank turned to face Jasper with an expression of sincere concern.

The elderly man had recognized Willow Nason to be the same sort as Serene Jordan. She was of low birth, and low class, stealing the company's secrets and selling them off to outsiders. She'd somehow managed to get her claws into

Jasper, who'd helped her to escape punishment entirely, by sacrificing Edith Price as a scapegoat.

In so doing, not only had she bound Jasper even more tightly to herself, she'd also cast Edith down from her position as his personal aide, and then usurped that position for herself.

It couldn't be plainer that she was an immoral, unscrupulous woman. No act was beneath her if it helped her achieve her goals!

Frank had already buried a son before... there would be no second time for him!

Jasper understood that his grandfather was warning him about Willow. "It's not the same woman."

"Boy, if you say you don't see any smoke, that's because you're already standing in the fire!" Frank snapped impatiently, his heart seizing up with anxiety "Listen, let's agree on a compromise: We'll set a

probationary period of three months. That should be enough time for you to figure out her true nature. Three months from now, if you still think she's right for you... then I shan't interfere anymore."
