No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric)

When Noelle saw Dominic, her pupils constricted. In the past, she was most terrified of Donovan. Every time he came home, she did her best to hide from him to prevent herself from getting scolded.

After he chased her out of their house in her last lifetime, Noelle gave up on him.

Noelle looked up and said coldly, "There's nothing for me to do after the meeting. Of course I'm going to leave."noveldrama

"Where are you going?"

Donovan glared at her.

Lucas hurriedly approached them and tried to smooth things over. "Naturally, she's going back to the Liddell Residence. Where else would she go? Isn't that right, Noelle?"

He signalled at Noelle, hoping that she would give in. If not, judging by Donovan's temper, she would probably suffer.

Xenia added disingenuously, "Noelle, since Donovan is back, you should stop holding that grudge of yours."

Lucas frowned at Xenia. Why was she saying that? She knew Noelle was stubborn.

Noelle looked up and replied, "I'm living outside independently."

"Noelle, are you mad?"

Lucas hadn't thought she would reply to him like that. Donovan had phrased his question in that way to give her a chance! However, she didn't seize the opportunity!

Noelle said neutrally, fierceness flashing across her eyes, "I'm very sane."

Donovan paled. "Noelle, I didn't believe you would partake in such rebellious behavior. In the few months of my absence, you've been influenced by that school medic."

"I was done with the Liddells. It has nothing to do with Cedric."

"Did you think I would believe that?"

Donovan continued coldly, "You're never going to see him ever again."

Terror took over Noelle's features. "Donovan, what are you going to do with him?"

"How you behave determines what I'll do to him. It's a pity you didn't pass my test. Thus, I'll use my way to discipline you."

Noelle saw the guards down the hallway and understood what was happening.

She looked back at Frank with red-rimmed eyes. "It was a trap all along?"

Frank explained anxiously, "Noelle, I didn't expect Donovan to come to the hospital at this hour."

"That's enough. Your explanation does nothing apart from disgust me."

Noelle felt chills run down her spine. They never perceived her as an independent being. She was treated as a puppet who always had to obey their whims.

Donovan roared, "Noelle, don't think that you're all that just because you're state valedictorian. Did you

think your cheating would be kept

under the radar if not for me?"

Noelle said emotionlessly, "First, I didn't cheat, so I don't need you to keep this under the radar."

"You're still being stubborn! We've seen your grades through the years. Did you think that your improvement in the last few months would be enough to turn you into the state valedictorian? Did you think that no one would be suspicious of your grades?"

Donovan didn't believe Noelle could achieve such stellar results.

Frank said, "Donovan, Noelle improved because of her hard work. Her teachers

said that she was capable. I believe she hadn't cheated."

"Enough. You and Lucas have been

wrapped around her little finger. Just because she throws a tantrum, you guys are going along with it? Xenia has told me the truth. There's no need to hide it from me

When Donovan heard of what Noelle had done, he was livid.

Lucas and Frank turned to Xenia simultaneously. It didn't sit well with them. They'd promised not to tell Donovan about this. Why would Xenia go ahead and do just that?

For the first time, they were displeased by Xenia. After all, she used to be so thoughtful. Why would she do something like this?

Xenia noticed their expressions and came up with an explanation. "I'm sorry. It slipped out of me unintentionally. It's all my fault."
