Chapter 106
Chapter 106:
The building management?
Indeed, every year they came to congratulate him on his birthday, but they usually did it in the evening. Surely they wouldn’t mind them at noon, would they?
Besides, it was almost twelve o’clock. Why hadn’t Miss Smith arrived yet?
Had she no longer intended to come?
The thought caused a surge of uneasy irritability to suddenly well up in Justin and he stood up abruptly. His deep-set eyes stared at the door and the beauty mark in the corner of his eye glittered with icy displeasure.
At the sight of him, Chester, who was fiddling with his cell phone, asked, “Are you expecting someone, Justin?”
“No, I’m not,” Justin replied, who denied without a second thought.
He had given the woman a chance to get close to him, but she hadn’t taken it. She’d missed it – what did it have to do with him?
That woman was obviously the one who was in love with him, but why was he instead the one feeling insecure now?
Justin was stunned.
At the door, a smile formed on Tina’s face when she overheard their conversation.
She had really thought that Mr. Hunt had invited her when she saw Nora at the door a moment ago. However, from the looks of things, that was not the case. She must have heard from somewhere that it was Mr. Hunt’s birthday and came specially to invite herself.
What a scoundrel.
How dare she set her eyes on Mr. Hunt when she already had a daughter!
In that case, she would make it so that she couldn’t even get through the door!
As soon as the thought formed, Pete rushed out of his room and said, “Dad, I heard you refused to let Mom in.”
Justin’s gaze immediately darkened. As if he had suddenly realized something, he headed for the door.
He pulled sharply on the door, revealing a bored Nora outside. The woman, empty-handed, looked at him lazily, her voice low and leisurely as she asked, “I hear it’s not convenient for you to entertain female guests today, Mr. Hunt?”
For some reason, Justin felt a slight tremor in his heart the instant he saw her, and his unhappiness of a moment ago disappeared without a trace.
A smile appeared on his face and he replied, “Indeed, it is inconvenient to receive other guests because today we are expecting a special guest…”
She tore her gaze away from Nora and looked at the small individual beside her, at which the corners of her lips began to spasm.
Cherry’s face had been dramatically painted to look like a clown. The area around her eyes was painted black and lipstick extended from the corners of her mouth.noveldrama
The girl’s original appearance was indistinguishable, yet she still looked pretty.
The little girl’s big eyes were full of complaint. She pointed at Tina and said, “But that middle-aged woman said she won’t let us in!”.
Justin frowned and looked at Tina.
Tina gaped at him.
She clenched her fists tightly-she hadn’t expected the Smith woman to have already won over the Hunt Lordship!
With a horrified expression on her face, she said awkwardly, “Mr. Hunt, I wasn’t lying to you on purpose. It was because you had just said that it was inconvenient for you to receive female guests, so I misunderstood you! As for saying it was building management personnel…”
He looked at Nora, sighed and said, “Mr. Hunt hates it the most when women come to his house without his consent. I was afraid he would be angry with her if he knew I was here, so I told him a white lie. But it turns out I had invited you. I didn’t mean to exaggerate.”
“…”
Nora couldn’t help but let out a “tsk” at his explanation.
Just look at that phony, manipulative way of speaking; she could make even lies sound like the truth. The corners of Nora’s lips turned upward and she said, “Am I supposed to thank you, then?”
“No, that’s okay.” Tina smiled and said, “After all, it was me who was wrong. Fortunately, I didn’t cause any misunderstandings.”
Nora was about to respond when a voice piped up. “Surely you know how to excuse yourself, Miss York! You’re clearly trying to monopolize Mr. Hunt by pushing other women away and allowing only you to stay. Do you think no one realizes that you like Mr. Hunt?”
Tina’s expression instantly changed dramatically. “No, I didn’t. I…”
Nora, “…”
Why did that annoying voice sound a little familiar?
She looked up to see someone standing in front of her and smiling at her. “We meet again, Miss Smith!”
Nora was a little taken aback. “Who are you?”
The corners of the man’s lips twitched a little. “Your memory is not very good, Miss Smith. We met in California. I’m Lawrence Zimmer, Mr. Hunt’s executive assistant.”
Nora asked, “… Why did you get such a tan?”.
Lawrence, “…”
Who wouldn’t get a tan after spending half a month in the tropics? Let’s not expose people who lead a hard life, please!
However, he clearly remembered why he had been thrown into the tropics, so he tried his best to force an ingratiating smile.
Nora said, “Please don’t smile. Your face looks even more tanned when contrasted with your teeth.”
Lawrence, “…”
The two entered the room as they chatted.
Seeing that they were no longer paying attention to her, Tina took a deep breath and followed them. However, when she reached the door, Lawrence stopped in his tracks, looked back at her and said, “Miss York, it’s Mr. Hunt’s birthday, so it’s inconvenient for us to receive female guests today.”
After saying this, he slammed the door shut with a loud bang.
Tina, “!!!”
She felt as if someone had just slapped her hard across the cheek! She gritted her teeth. It was all Nora’s fault that she had locked her out.
However, the people inside the villa were completely oblivious to Tina’s anger on the other side of the door.
Nora saw the birthday card on the coffee table as soon as she walked in. She immediately picked it up and asked, “Is this the birthday card your son made you?”.
Pete, who was looking at his sister’s strange clown makeup, was puzzled.
He looked at the birthday card silently and then at Justin. Immediately, he saw the tyrant give him a long look before replying, “Yes.”
Pete, “…”
Nora looked at the birthday card again and again before finally putting it down reluctantly. Her son was the sweetest after all! Look how mean little Cherry is! All she got as a gift was a tremendous wave of flattery!
At that, Cherry would like to express that it was unfair!
After lunch at the Hunts, Cherry finally gave Justin the birthday present she had prepared: a mad bout of flattery. Next, Nora drove Cherry back home.
After the two left, Pete finally took the birthday card, handed it to Justin and remarked disdainfully, “Dad, your handwriting is so ugly!”
Justin, “…”
It was he who was deliberately imitating Pete’s handwriting with his left hand!!!!!
However, Miss Smith forgot to give him a birthday present today?
He walked into the studio. Sean and Lawrence followed.
Sean said, “Your uncle bribed people to kidnap Pete again. Supposedly he even gave them pictures this time.”
Pictures…
Justin frowned. “There’s no leaking anything about Pete!”
Sean nodded. “Yes, sir!”
Justin ordered, “Set up a detection system. That way, if pictures of Pete show up anywhere on the Internet, we’ll be notified immediately!”
This was the only way to strictly prevent information about Pete from being leaked!
Sean replied, “Yes, sir!”
At the same time in the studio of the live streaming platform.
The person in charge of the game channels excitedly told the supervisor, “Sweetcherry really lives up to expectations! This is only his fourth showdown, but he’s already trending!”
