Chapter 111
Chapter 111:
Justin had always been very careful when he went out, especially when he had Pete with him.
He had already been kidnapped as a child, so he placed a lot of importance on his son being safe.
That was also why he had hired home tutors for Pete instead of sending him to school.
No information about Justin’s son could be found on the Internet. There weren’t even any photos or mention of his name.
In fact, not many in New York had ever seen Pete before. Justin wanted his son to be as protected as possible before he acquired the ability to protect himself.
For example, right now he was just taking his son out to lunch, but he had brought as many as eight bodyguards with him.
The eight bodyguards were separated into two cars. One was in front of them and the other behind.
Tina got out of her car and stopped in front of the cars in her heels. She said, “Mr. Hunt, I have something to tell you!”
The passenger seat door of the middle car opened, and out of it stepped a leg clad in suit pants. Tina breathed a sigh of relief. Just when she thought it was Justin, she saw instead the tanned Lawrence getting out of the car.
He fixed his suit and walked over. Then, he grabbed Tina by the arm and pulled her aside.
Tina shouted to the car, “Mr. Hunt…!”.
However, she only managed to shout two words before the two cars in front of her started up and drove off. The third car pulled up next to Lawrence.
Lawrence said to Tina, “Mr. Hunt is the kind of person who hates people who annoy him the most, Miss York.”
Tina narrowed her eyes and shook her arm. She straightened her back and said, “Mr. Zimmer, please relay a message to Mr. Hunt for me. I need to talk to him about something. It’s about his son, so I have to talk to him in person.”
Lawrence said mockingly, “Ms. York, what do you have to say to Mr. Hunt in person? I’ve seen too many people with bad intentions trying to get close to him under the guise of caring for his son. Can’t you try a little harder and use a different excuse?”
At that point, Lawrence pursed his lips and added, “Or you can tell me and I’ll pass it on to Mr. Hunt for you. It makes no difference.”
Tina, whose intentions had been laid bare, was immediately furious. However, she knew it would probably be futile even if she insisted on seeing Justin, so she decided to give in. She said, “Mr. Zimmer, I just happened to find out last night that Pete is doing live broadcasts. Mr. Hunt has always been very strict with Pete. It doesn’t seem very appropriate for him to do live broadcasts over the Internet, does it?”
Lawrence scoffed and replied, “Surely you are doing everything you can to get close to Mr. Hunt, Miss York! Isn’t the credibility of your claim very slim?
There’s no way Pete would lend himself to games! Besides, he doesn’t talk much. It’s impossible for him to broadcast live.”
Seeing that he didn’t believe her, Tina panicked and said, “It’s true. It’s already trending on social media.”
Was it trending on social media?
Lawrence raised his eyebrows and said, “Oh yeah? Show me, then.”
Tina, however, narrowed her eyes and said, “This concerns Pete, so I can only show it to Mr. Hunt, Mr. Zimmer. Let Mr. Hunt know about this; once we add each other on Facebook, I’ll send him the information, how’s that sound?”
Lawrence smiled and replied, “Okay, I’ll let him know.”
After saying that, he turned around, climbed into the third car and caught up to the cars at the front.
As he entered the car, a bodyguard asked, “Is it true what that woman said, Mr. Zimmer?”
Lawrence scoffed, “How can that be, Pete a streamer, are you kidding me?”
The moment he said that, however, it suddenly occurred to him that he seemed to have said something similar when he was in California last time…. He hadn’t relayed Miss Smith’s message to Mr. Hunt, which had gotten him sent to Burundi….
Lawrence shuddered.
He was quick to say, “I’m going to check to see if it’s true.”
He grabbed his cell phone, opened the social networking apps and checked the trending topics. From the first to the last, he checked them all, but saw nothing related to Pete.
Nevertheless, he didn’t dare risk overlooking anything, so he called Hunt Corporation’s IT security department and asked, “Is the detection system Mr. Hunt requested ready?”
The head of the computer security department replied, “We’ve been working overtime since yesterday on it. I think we will finish it tonight.”
“Good. Send it to me when it’s finished.”
Lawrence hung up.
As an executive assistant, it was imperative that he learn to filter certain content himself.
From now on, all messages from Miss Smith were to be relayed to Mr. Hunt.
But for all others, he was to verify authenticity before relaying them to the boss.
Otherwise, was she to subject her boss to Tina’s threat and have him add her as a friend on Facebook? If that happened, he would cease to be a qualified executive assistant.
By the time the car caught up with the other two, Justin and Pete were already in the restaurant.
Lawrence watched his boss closely after he entered the private room.
Justin had a horrible expression on his face from the night before. He gave off a cold aura everywhere, so no one dared to approach him. Because of this, Lawrence gave it some thought and decided to conduct a thorough investigation before telling them.
He had no desire to put himself in the line of fire as long as the tyrant was in a bad mood. It was hard to know who the unlucky ones would be.
After lunch, they returned to the villa. Sure enough, as they were rounding the corner, they saw in the rearview mirror a few people behaving furtively. Justin frowned and ordered, “Get rid of those flies.”
Lawrence replied, “Yes, sir.”
They had already received word about the presence of these people by the time they arrived at the villa complex. In fact, they knew about it by the time they undertook the mission. After all, the security personnel surrounding Justin were the best in the world.
To ensure Pete’s safety, the bodyguards surrounding him were all retired special forces officers.
Justin had only kept them around him to attract people hiding further back. After all, aside from his uncle, there were also many others who seemed to be watching their boss for reasons Lawrence didn’t understand.
Five minutes later.
Scarface, who had wounds all over him, was brought before Justin in the living room of his villa.
Scarface was so aggrieved that he was close to tears. His face was swollen and he had even lost a tooth in the fight. His speech was slurred as he begged for mercy.
“Mr. Hunt, your female bodyguard has already taught us a lesson. We no longer have the guts to kidnap your son. We’ve been protecting him all this time. We’ve even chased away three groups of people in the last two days!”
Justin, “?”
Surprised, he asked, “My female bodyguard?”
“Yes, he was driving a jeep yesterday. The one protecting your son.”
A jeep… Nora Smith?
Justin sat up straight. The cold look on his face softened a little.
Nora hadn’t given him any birthday presents the day before, which made him feel like he’d been neglected, so he’d been in a bad mood all day. But she happened to care about him, didn’t she?
If not, why would she quietly teach Scarface a lesson and not say anything to him?
As expected, she was deeply in love and devoted to him…. Everyone else was dying to let the whole world know every time they did something for him, but she wouldn’t even mention anything she had done.
The corners of Justin’s lips curved upward slightly and his mood, which had been somber all day, improved greatly. With a gesture, he had his men take Scarface away. Then, he suddenly thought of Cherry….
Was it a bad decision to delete Cherry from his Facebook? In that case, maybe he should add her as a friend again?
He opened Facebook with the intention of unblocking her and re-adding her as a friend with the excuse that he had accidentally deleted her. But he saw that .noveldrama
