Nora

Chapter 126

Chapter 126:.

Simon had never been one for arguing. He had found Mrs. Levin to be very loud when she came in, so he had turned up the volume on the television and set it very high.

The financial news channel was currently reporting the latest news: “…new regulations have been announced…to control housing prices…inelastic housing prices…”

These sentences faintly made their way into the ears of the few people.

Everyone’s heads turned in unison to the television set and they watched the report in earnest. However, they only caught the last words: “…brought to you by this channel”.

Mrs. Levin gasped. “What did they just say?”

Although Melissa had known for some time, she was still a little surprised when she heard the announcement.

Why had the policy been announced so quickly?

By rights, word always spread vaguely before any announcement. This time, however, they had heard nothing at all.

As expected from the man on top of the world, indeed. And to think that Justin had received the news so soon!

However, now was not the time to be shocked. Melissa looked at Mrs. Levin and smiled. “Didn’t you hear a moment ago, they’re going to control housing prices now! Real estate is no longer going to be lucrative…”

Mrs. Levin’s eyes widened in horror.

The corners of Melissa’s lips curved upward.

“My goodness, Nora is a lucky star. If she hadn’t made a fuss and stopped us from investing, I could have invested $3,000,000 in her! Speaking of which, it’s also thanks to the fuss Nora made, that my older brother didn’t invest in real estate!”

He made a show of gratitude and took Nora’s hand. He said, “Nora, come to think of it, it’s rather strange, but the Andersons have really gotten a new lease on life and have been revitalized since you came along. No matter what we meet, it’s all worked out in the end – you really are a lucky star! It will be an honor for your future husband to be able to marry you.”

Mrs. Levin felt as if she had been slapped hard on the cheek at the thought of how someone had called Nora unlucky just a moment ago.

Although wealthy families were not superstitious, they did believe in fate. For example, some people gave luck to their husbands, others to their wives; some people were lucky and others were not….

Because of Miranda, everyone in the circle knew what had happened. At first, they had all labeled Nora as bad luck who brought chaos to the family as soon as she arrived, but Melissa’s statement had completely reversed the situation now.

After saying that deliberately, Melissa lifted her chin and looked at Mrs. Levin. She feigned surprise and exclaimed, “Huh? Why are you still here, Mrs. Levin?”

Mrs. Levin, “!”

Her visit to propose today was actually a deliberate move by Jon and herself.

Otherwise, with the way he had done it, what was the difference between that and picking a fight?

Jon’s intention was to have her totally undercut Nora so that the Andersons would take the initiative to offer the Rest Pill as a wedding gift when they got married later.

Although I had envisioned a lot of different scenarios, I hadn’t seen this coming at all!

Mrs. Levin left with her tail between her legs, after which she called Jon and explained the situation. After careful thought, Jon thought Melissa was right.

Wasn’t it exactly after she returned that the Andersons produced the Rest Pill?

At first, the Andersons had been completely suppressed in the pharmaceutical industry, but thanks to the Rest Pill, they were now gradually expanding!

If they could get Miss Smith to marry the Myers, they could prosper as well.

With that in mind, he looked at Winston and said to Mrs. Levin over the phone, “How about this? Pay them another visit and…”

On the Andersons.

Melissa had deliberately painted Nora as a lucky star, thus adding another bargaining chip for her in her marital prospects.

Although Nora noticed, she said nothing.

She had no intention of finding a husband anyway. After all, how could finding a stinking man to sleep with compare?

She stretched and walked casually up the stairs.

When she got upstairs, Mrs. Levin had returned.

This time, however, Melissa did not let her in. She was wearing an elegant dress and her delicate face was full of pride as she said, “Mrs. Levin, I’m sure you must be very clear by now what we think about this. Please go away.”

Mrs. Levin smiled shyly and said, “Mrs. Anderson, that’s not what I mean. The Myers are actually very sincere in their proposal. It was I who misunderstood them, so please don’t take it to heart.”

Melissa looked down and said, “I have nothing to reproach them for. It is an honor for Nora to have so many suitors. It’s a pity that she and Mr. Myers are not meant to be.”

The corners of Mrs. Levin’s lips tightened.

Cultured people do have a way with words. She had turned the way she came to provoke them into her paying them a visit to ask for Nora’s hand instead. With that, once news of today’s incident spread, they would add a nice story to Nora’s name instead.

He flashed her an embarrassed smile and said, “Mrs. Anderson, I just came to convey a message for the Myers. Mr. Myers fell in love at first sight with Miss Smith. He was in a bad way. The Myers would like a chance to talk face to face with Miss Smith. After all, what if the two young people hit it off, right?”

Melissa raised her eyebrows and replied, “I’m afraid Nora doesn’t have time for that.”

“Why wouldn’t she? After all, it never hurts to make a little time to get to know each other. How about this? We’ll set the meeting at the Prism Club tomorrow. Mr. Myers has already said to be there or be in the square.”

Fearing Melissa would refuse, Mrs. Levin left immediately after saying that.

When she left, Simon looked at Melissa. “Is Nora going to stay with him?”

“What for?” Melissa said, “Is a spendthrift who only knows how to have fun worthy of Nora? No, he’s not going.”

After talking, she went into the house and indicated to Simon, “Let’s not say anything to Nora.”

Simon nodded as well. “Yeah, okay.”

Winston’s reputation in the circle was simply too horrible. Who would want to meet him?

The next day, Nora lazily got out of bed at 7:40 sharp in the morning. After brushing her teeth, she put on a baseball cap and took her son to the garden.

Pete was sitting in the back seat. The little boy was wearing his school uniform dress. He made a long face and looked very upset. “Mommy, why do I have to go to kindergarten?”noveldrama

Nora yawned. As she looked straight ahead, she replied nonchalantly, “Because Cherry will be exposed if you don’t. Be a good boy and wait a couple of days, Pete. We’ll change them when Cherry goes to Quinn School of Martial Arts.”

Pete sighed helplessly. “… Fine.”

After sending Pete off to the garden, he went home and slept until the afternoon. After eating, he headed to the Prism Club.

It wouldn’t do to keep hiding the twins like this either.

Cherry was a very active child. It was only a matter of time before Justin found out. So, as long as Justin didn’t figure anything out, it would be best if she talked to him more, clarified what had happened then, and resolved the misunderstanding.

When he arrived at the Prism Club, he stretched and handed the car to the valet. Then, he lazily walked into the club.

Five minutes after entering, another car pulled into the driveway.

Justin got out of the car with Cherry in his arms and entered the Prism Club.

As soon as he walked in, he noticed the romantic decorations in the hallway…. Was someone proposing?

How silly.
