Nora

Chapter 154

Chapter 154:.

Nora leaned against the window and gazed out at the campus scenery.

She had never experienced college life. Nor had she experienced much of life as part of a community. The sight of students walking outside in twos and threes struck her as quite novel.

He accepted the call and said quietly, “Hello.”

Lily’s voice came to him through the phone. “I have received the samples. I will do the DNA test myself. The results will be out promptly in three hours.”

That the international express mail arrived the next day meant that they had already expedited the delivery process.

Nora said unhurriedly, “Okay.”

She hung up and looked at Lisa, who was still surrounded by people, again. Despite what had happened, the girl was neither arrogant nor anxious. Her eyes were still as innocent as before.

Nora smiled and turned around to go to Principal Shaw’s office.

Director Shaw was selecting graduate students at the school today, so he had not gone to the hospital. He was about to leave work when one of his graduate students suddenly said, “Principal Shaw, Anti has chosen a graduate student on his own initiative!”

Director Shaw was stunned. “What?”

“That’s right! My goodness, Anti was already a teacher in name here two years ago. By rights, they should have taken out time to teach a class here, but for two whole years, we didn’t even see what he looked like. Yet, has he accepted a graduate student the moment he showed up? How envious I am of that student.”

“Sob, would I have had any chance of being selected by Anti if I had sat for the graduate entrance exam this year?”

As a few people spoke, Director Shaw coughed and said coldly, “Hah, I see. So, none of you wanted to be my graduate student?”

The students, “…”

Director Shaw coughed again. To protect his dignity as department head, he said, “Actually, Anti is not that amazing either. What is most impressive about Anti is that he has steady hands! If I had my current level of medical knowledge when I was his age, I could do a few perfect operations too!”

As soon as he finished bragging, I hear a soft, low voice say, “Really?”

Director Shaw, “?”

His head turned. At the sight of Nora, the corners of his lips couldn’t help but spasm.

He hurried over and asked with a smile, “Why are you here?”

Nora couldn’t be bothered to pursue the subject at that point, so she shuffled off to her office. Director Shaw wisely followed her. After closing the door, he asked, “Are you going to be lecturing at the school this year?”

Nora raised her eyebrows. “No.”

Principal Shaw was surprised. “So, does that mean you intend to take on projects?”.

“… No”.

Director Shaw was confused. “Then why have you taken on a graduate student? How are you going to teach and impart knowledge to her?”

That was precisely why Nora had approached. Her feline eyes looked up at him calmly and she said, “Didn’t you say you owed me a favor?”

Director Shaw looked at her, speechless for a moment.

Three years ago, when he had been overseas for a medical exchange, Anti had totally impressed him. He, too, had been having trouble with something to do with academics and had had no progress on it for many years. It was Anti who had given him a few random tips that had inspired him.

Principal Shaw had stuck by her and had refused to let her go ever since. He also insisted on giving her a tenured faculty position at the university.

Principal Shaw said, “And?”

“Guide Lisa for me.”

Principal Shaw, “…”

I just knew it wouldn’t be any good!

The truth was that he was very busy, so he was recruiting very few graduate students lately. He was only accepting about four or five a year. Besides, it was mostly his assistants who taught them on his behalf and helped him guide the freshmen.

However, having one more student to teach made no difference, so Director Shaw nodded and said, “Okay.”

Seeing that he had agreed to her request, Nora stood up and prepared to leave. She was about to leave the office when Director Shaw asked, “Why did you agree to that young lady, is it because she’s your relative?”

To be honest, if he was going to accept her like that, he might as well have called her on his cell phone and asked her to accept one more graduate student. It would have been more convenient that way.

However, Nora looked down at his question. She suddenly curved her lips into a smile and replied, “No, that’s not why.”

She would never let anyone in through the back door if their skills weren’t up to par.

The reason she had accepted Lisa was that the research topic she was proposing was one she had recently thought of tackling.

Plus, Lisa had pure eyes; people like that were ideal for academics.

She waved as she nonchalantly walked to the door and said, “She’s my graduate student. For now, I’ll let you guide her around a bit.”

“…”

After leaving Director Shaw’s office, he returned to where he was a moment ago and found that everyone was still discussing the subject with the same enthusiasm as before. Lisa had already become his favorite person.noveldrama

Nora texted Lisa and asked her to meet her the next day to talk. Then, she went home.

Since she had been running a little late today, by the time she got home it was after six o’clock.

As he parked the car, he happened to see Logan coming out of the house.

The twenty-year-old had a stubborn, untamed look in his eyes. His handsome, handsome face was full of irritability at that moment. He replied, “I’m going to mortgage the car, okay? Why are you putting so much pressure on me?

The original price of that car was $18.5 million. It’s not too much for me to knock it down to $12.5 million, is it? What? $9 million? What you’re doing is no different than kicking me while I’m down, Winston!”

The other party then said something that made Logan so angry that he promptly hung up on him.

When he raised his head, he happened to see Nora. He glared at her, stormed into the garage and pulled out the ugly yellow sports car.

Although he had done his best to disguise it as he walked, it was vaguely noticeable that his sprained ankle from the other time had not yet recovered….

However, Nora didn’t think much of the matter and went into the house.

Logan endured the pain in his ankle as he drove, and made another call.

“Spread the word for me. Aren’t there a lot of people interested in my Ferrari? I’m willing to sell it…”

The person on the other end sighed and said, “That’s not a problem, but what are you going to do about your ankle? You still have another competition. If you lose that one too, you won’t have a car to sell anymore!”.

Logan clenched his fists.

A few unofficial racers had set up a bookmaker.

He’d been firmly ranked first in the country all these years, but a few days ago, someone had secretly attacked him…. He had broken his ankle in the process.

The doctor had said he had to have surgery so that the bones would heal.

However, if he had surgery, they could not guarantee that he would be able to maintain the same agility in the ankle as before.

The person on the other side said, “Now you have only two options. The first is to find the Anti Master Surgeon to operate and treat your injury; otherwise, you will not be able to run again. The second is to find the international runner Yanci and get him to run in the competition on your behalf. If not, you’re really done for this time.”

Neither option was feasible.

Logan looked down. A brief moment later, he took a deep breath and said, “Let’s find a buyer first!”

“…Can you really stand to sell your Little Yellow? Normally you can’t even stand for me to touch the car. It’s one of the most remarkable limited edition sports cars in the world, you know. If you sell it, you might not be able to find another car that suits you in the future, even if you have the money!”

Screeeeech!

Logan stopped the car on the shoulder as he heard what the other party was saying.

He patted the steering wheel and the seat…..

Everything in the car was what he liked best. Selling it was no different than cutting the flesh from his body.

But there was no way to involve the Andersons in his business.

Logan slowly closed his eyes and uttered, “Sell it!”

At the Anderson’s house, Nora sat at the desk after climbing the stairs. Her fingers tapped lightly on the desk as she waited for Lily’s DNA test results.
