Nora

Chapter 159

Chapter 159:

Nora was taken aback by Lily’s words.

Before the DNA test she was already mentally prepared to know that she might not be Henry’s daughter, but…. When the truth was presented to her, aside from feeling a bit shocked, she was actually more relieved than anything else.

Nora looked down and stared out the window.

She suddenly felt quite relieved.

It was human nature to want to be close to your parents.

Her mother had died soon, so her father was her only relative in the world. Despite this, her father had never once hugged or kissed her in her entire life.

There were times when she felt very envious as she watched Henry carrying Angela affectionately.

In fact, she would even get very depressed and cut herself off from the world for a while during that time.noveldrama

Little Nora couldn’t help but wonder at the time if it was because she was too unfriendly. Was that why her father didn’t like her?

Later, she closed her heart and never opened it again to anyone.

Everyone who knew her said she was insensitive, but that was because no one had taught her what love was.

In her world, she had always been alone.

But it turned out that it had never been her fault. It wasn’t because she wasn’t nice enough that Henry didn’t love her; rather, it was because he wasn’t her father.

Nora looked up. Suddenly, she lowered her head and looked at the strands of hair she had pulled from Henry’s head when she was kicking him and Wendy. The corners of her lips suddenly curved into a smile.

“In that case, let’s check them all out.”

Even though it was already confirmed, it was still better to compare her DNA with Henry’s, just in case.

Perhaps because she knew she was anxious to know the result, Lily replied, “Okay, I’ll have someone pick it up right away.”

Even the fastest courier service wouldn’t be as fast as someone doing it themselves.

She had always done all her DNA testing outside the United States.

Ten minutes later, someone came to pick up the hair samples. They took the first flight of the night and went straight to where Lily was. Ten hours later, the samples arrived for Lily.

She gave up sleep to do the DNA test. Another four hours later, she had gotten the DNA test results!

Henry and Wendy were outside the Andersons’ villa after they were kicked out. They glared angrily at the villa and stamped their feet.

Wendy couldn’t help but provoke Henry. She said, “Honestly, Nora is so…. How can she take such a big turn the moment she joined the Andersons?”.

Henry, who was red with anger, gnashed his teeth in fury. The veins on his forehead bulged as he said, “That cheating daughter! I… I’m going to sue her!”

Wendy frowned. “But will the authorities really do anything about it? Besides, do we still have the money to hire one of the best lawyers?”

Henry was irritated by her questions.

At that moment, Miranda and Rachel also left the Andersons. The Woods’ car was parked outside the villa, but Miranda and Rachel did not get into the car after leaving the villa. Instead, they approached Henry and Wendy.

Miranda sighed and said, “How cruel my little sister is! The Andersons are too cruel about this.”

Rachel pursed her lips and said, “Exactly. Does Nora really think she’s a daughter of the Andersons? A woman who has no shame and who got pregnant before she was married is now abandoning her father? That’s unforgivable.”

Henry and Wendy, who hadn’t expected them to say that, were momentarily dumbfounded.

Wendy was the first to recover. She stepped forward, took Miranda’s arm and said, “We’re both really pitiful. Not only did we painstakingly raise her to adulthood, but Nora was in poor health as a child, so we even sent her to the hospital frequently…. I didn’t expect her to be so rebellious. We only reprimanded her a little after she made us sad, but she has become so distant and alienated! Gosh.”

Miranda immediately replied, “That won’t do.”

Next to her, Rachel also chimed in. “Look how pitiful they both are, Mom. Why don’t you help them?”

Miranda hesitated at her suggestion. She said, “But she is your aunt, after all…”.

Rachel straightened her back and said, “The right thing to do is to be on the side of justice before your own family, Mom. You know that, don’t you? Come on, help them.”

Miranda sighed. “Oh, that’s all right. I happen to have a friend here…”

The night passed quietly for everyone.

Melissa was still worried before bedtime. She said, “Your dad sounds like a real piece of work to me, Nora – are they going to make another fuss?”.

Nora, however, replied openly, “There’s always a solution to a problem, Aunt Melissa. Don’t worry.”

Melissa nodded and went downstairs. She complained to Mrs. Anderson, “Yvette was such a proud woman then. Why did she have to choose such a shameless scoundrel like him?”

Mrs. Anderson let out a huge sigh. “Everything is predestined in one’s life!”

Simon also let out a deep sigh. The three of them looked at each other and then, lifted their heads and looked up at Nora’s bedroom upstairs at the end.

Melissa sighed. “Not only did her mother die when she was young, but her father doesn’t love her either. The most pitiful one here is actually Nora. Her father has embarrassed her a lot today and even went on a rant against the others. Nora must be very sad.”

Simon nodded. “Yes. How was she when you spoke to her just now?”

Melissa replied, “Nora is a sensible girl. She’s always been the type to be afraid to report anything but good news. Even when you ask her how she’s doing at home, all she says is that everything is fine. How could she show us her pain? I’m sure she’s crying upstairs right now.”

Simon and Mrs. Anderson’s heart ached at the thought.

However, Nora, whom the trio had mistaken for thinking she would be secretly crying, had already showered and was asleep in bed with her son in her arms.

The night passed quietly.

The next day was the weekend, so Pete didn’t have to go to the garden.

Nora was also finally able to sleep late. However, she was awakened by noise from downstairs.

She frowned and got up. As soon as she left her room, she heard Simon’s angry shout from downstairs.

“We’re not taking any interviews!”

Melissa was berating the other party. She threatened, “I’ll call the security guards if all of you don’t leave!”

An unknown woman was speaking to them. “Hello, good morning. An attitude like that doesn’t solve anything. I’m Roxanne, a journalist. Mrs. Smith’s father called me and told me that she refuses to recognize you as family after a wealthy family took her in. We are here to mediate.”

Simon shouted, “Turn off the camera first!”

Roxanne said, “Don’t get so agitated, sir. This is a live broadcast; the more agitated you are, the more people will feel you’re on the wrong side! Let’s calm down, why don’t you tell me what really happened first? You are all family. There is no grudge or quarrel between family that can’t be mediated.”

Melissa frowned. “We don’t need mediation.”

Roxanne spoke calmly and unhurriedly. “You’re not Miss Smith, so you can’t represent her, may I know where Miss Smith is?”

Henry’s voice appeared at that moment. He said, “She must still be sleeping! That daughter of mine has been fat and lazy since she was a child. She never gets out of bed until the sun is shining in the sky.”
