Chapter 172
Chapter 172:.
Henry had done some illegal business in California over the years. Although he had ultimately made a loss, it was a fact that he had broken the law.
If Wendy reported him, Henry would have to go to jail.
Henry was successfully dissuaded.
Wendy then said, “After all, we were married for many years, so I didn’t leave you with nothing. There is a small bag in the left pocket of the suitcase with your ID card and $30,000 inside. You can take it as my way of honoring our friendship over all these years.”
Henry panicked. He yelled into the phone, “Get off the plane, Wendy! Get off the plane now! I want to see you! You can’t leave me behind!”
His eyes were bloodshot and he suddenly found himself in a state of total panic.

He had never thought he would end up betrayed and abandoned half his life….
His voice choked as he said into the phone, “Wendy! Wendy, I made a mistake. I shouldn’t have made those mistakes when I was young. I’ve realized how wrong I was. Come back to me! Come back!”
Wendy’s voice was very soft but determined. She said, “The plane is about to take off, Henry. Goodbye.”
She hung up on him immediately after saying that.
Henry looked at his cell phone and frantically called her, but all he could hear on the cell phone was “The person you are trying to reach is not available. Please try again later.”
Henry then hurried next door. Through the windows, he was just in time to see the plane take off for California….
How he wished he could go through the glass and jump right into that plane!
Wendy had taken care of him and taken care of everything at home for all these years. Henry had always thought the woman loved him.
After all, when he made the deal with Yvette in his youth, he really did have a girlfriend. However, for the sake of wealth and glory, he had made Wendy wait for him.
Yvette had said she didn’t want someone with a girlfriend because she feared it would set them back in life.
For that reason, she had never made mention of Wendy.
But Wendy didn’t want him anymore….
This was not only a physical abandonment, but also a spiritual betrayal.
Henry threw himself at the window and cried like a child who has lost his way home.
No, he was not to let Wendy escape just like that. With his ID card and bank card in hand, he ran to the counter to buy a ticket for the next flight to California so he could go after her.
However, tickets for the first flight were sold out.
As Henry panicked, someone approached him from the side and asked, “Looking for a ticket for the flight leaving in an hour? I have one right here.”
Henry was taken aback.
The man said, “I’ve booked one. Let’s get in touch later. If you book the ticket immediately after I cancel, you’ll be able to buy it…”
Wendy had always been the one who booked the plane tickets every time they went out of town, so she wasn’t clear on details like this. This made her believe what the man was saying without a second thought.
The two of them went to the bathroom and entertained themselves with their cell phones for a while inside. A hesitant Henry asked, “Does this mean I successfully booked the ticket?”.
However, when he looked up, the man from a moment ago had already disappeared. His ID and bank card had also been stolen.
Henry, “!”
He panicked out of the bathroom, but he could no longer see which way the hustler had gone or where he was in the crowd!
Henry was in a total panic.
Not only was he stranded in New York with his money and bank card stolen, but he had even lost his ID card. What was he going to do now? Surely he couldn’t beg on the streets, could he?

Outside the airport.
The man who had just conned Henry shed his miserable appearance, stood up and made a call. He said, “All done boss.”
Justin’s voice came to him from the other end of the call. “Good. You keep an eye on him after this. I want you to… I wish I was dead instead.”
The man shuddered all over and said a silent prayer for Henry. He didn’t know how the man had offended the chief to give him such ruthless orders, but he obediently replied nonetheless, “Yes, sir!”
At the Hunts’.
Murderous intent welled up in Justin’s deep, bottomless eyes after he hung up.
Over the past few days, through his own investigations and Cherry’s comments, he had come to understand what had really happened then. Nora hadn’t abandoned Pete: It was Henry Smith who had buried him alive!
She thought back to that day. If he hadn’t freaked out when he heard what the other party said; or if he’d been just a little more cocky-and felt that he’d never slept with any woman, so there was no way he’d ever have children-and had ended up not rushing in…. Pete would no longer be in the world now!
Therefore, it was very easy for him to make the decision to kill Henry.
However, that would be letting him off too easily!
Since he had tried to kill his son, it would make him spend the rest of his life in pain and agony!
After pocketing his cell phone, Justin left the room with relaxed steps. Since he had done something good, he had to claim credit for it, of course.
For example, he had discovered that two people had paid to have the live stream trending on social media. One of them was Miranda, whom I had already told the Woods about.
The other was at NYU School of Medicine – Tina York. She was a woman, so I would let that woman decide what to do with her.
Of course, there was no need to tell her Henry’s fate.
Justin walked out of the mansion gates and got into the car to go see Nora.
That woman would surely be very sad right now, wouldn’t she?
He should go and comfort her a little.
However, as soon as he got into the car, his cell phone rang again. His subordinate’s voice came to him from the other end of the call as he answered.
“Chief, it turns out we’re not the only ones that this Smith guy has offended! I just saw someone secretly beat him up.”
Justin raised his eyebrows. “And then?”
“Heh, they took him after that. Now I’m following them. Try to guess who they are.”
“Who are they?”
“The Smiths.”
The Smiths?
In all of New York, the ones who ruled were the Hunts or the Smiths.
Even Justin would show the Smiths a little courtesy on the surface when he was getting things done. That’s why he hadn’t bypassed the Smiths to press directly into the garden during the Tanya incident back then: it would have been rude to the Smiths!
However, the Smiths had no quarrel or grievance with Henry-why did they kidnap him?
It could be that…
Justin said no more.
On the cell phone, his subordinate asked, “Chief, should I reach out and save him? It would be terrible if the Smiths tortured him to death.”
Justin was silent for a while before saying, “Forget it. We’ll show the Smiths some courtesy.”
If the situation was really as he supposed, he had better keep a good relationship with the Smiths!

At the Andersons.
Nora lazily climbed the stairs after returning from the police station. However, she could no longer fall asleep after lying down in bed.
What Morris Ford had said at the police station made her frown.
Why exactly had her mother run away from home with no rhyme or reason?
She placed her hands behind her head and stared at the ceiling, thinking about how she could hide away to sleep in peace and quiet…and get away from all this ridiculous business altogether.
At that moment, his cell phone suddenly rang.
He picked it up and looked at it. He only decided to answer it because he saw that the caller was Lily.
Lily’s voice came to him from the other end. “Have you settled all your domestic matters, Anti?”.
Nora let out a “yes.”
Only then did Lily say, “Then now I can tell you a discovery. Guess what I discovered when I was running DNA tests on you?”noveldrama
