Chapter 844
Julia hesitated for a moment before nodding. "Yes, you're right. Back then, my son was infatuated with Nadine. He was convinced he couldn't live without her and even got down on his knees to beg me to allow him to marry her.
"I'm sure you know that Nadine could never be worthy of my son. So, I went to Palace Hotel to teach her a lesson that day. Oh, and she was working part-time there at the time, wearing their staff uniform."
Of course, she wasn't telling the full story. She conveniently left out the things she had said to insult Nadine, primarily because they had been too cruel to repeat aloud. As such, she just glossed over it.noveldrama
Cameron could tell she was hiding something, and he knew what it was. However, since it wasn't critical to the matter at hand, he chose not to press further.
"Since you went there with the intention of humiliating Ms. Scott, what else did you see while you were there? For instance, Mr. Hamilton, Ms. Sawyer, or anyone else from the Hamilton family?"
Julia took a few minutes to think before responding, "I think I saw Jean and Madam Evelyn that day... No, wait. I definitely saw them! They were outside room 1913, and they looked really close-certainly not like mere acquaintances.
"I have no idea what they were talking about, but there was something off about their expressions. It was almost as if they had gained something but also lost something at the same time. They stood outside room 1913 for a long while, staring at the room next door."
Because the events had taken place such a long time ago, it took her a bit of time to jog her memory. After all, her family's future was at stake here.
Cameron could tell she was being truthful. "Thank you for telling me all this, Mrs. Sullivan. Let's move on. Weren't you curious about what Ms. Sawyer and Madam Evelyn were looking at? Didn't you go over to take a look?"
Julia chuckled. "I love a good drama; of course, I couldn't resist. So, I stood behind them, just out of their sight, and peeked at room 1914.
"But by the time I looked, it was already too late. All I saw was a woman in a hotel staff uniform
being dragged into the room. Shanet
tried to resist, gripping the
doofframe with her hands, but she was no match for the man. In no time, she was overpowered and pulled inside."
Even though her memories from six years ago had grown hazy, this particular scene remained vivid. It was impossible to forget because the woman's hand stood out—so pale it almost glowed a detail that was burned into Julia's mind.
After hearing that, Cameron's pen flew across his notebook as he took detailed notes. Then, he looked up at Julia and asked, "Mrs. Sullivan, did you happen to see the woman's face? Or notice any distinctive features?"
Julia shook her head. "That was all I saw. It all happened so quickly. The only thing I remember is her hand-it was so pale, it was practically glowing. But as for her face or anything else, I honestly don't know."
Cameron jotted down her answer in his notes. At this point, he was confident Julia was telling the truth.
"Thank you for your cooperation ne
Mrs. Sullivan. From here on out, Mr. Hamilton won't be making things difficult for your family. But if I find that you've lied about any of the things you've said-well, you've been warned."
With that, he stood and offered her a polite nod. "Goodbye, Mrs. Sullivan."
Julia watched as Cameron turned and walked away, her mind racing. On that stormy night six years ago after she had humiliated Nadine, she remembered seeing her head.
toward the 19th floor. What were the odds of that being just a coincidence?
What do you think?
