Chapter 1300 This Paranoid and Dark Emotion
Selena had no idea how powerful her words were.
She couldn't see, so she missed the way Ann's pupils shrank rapidly upon hearing them, as if she'd just heard something unbelievable. Tears streamed down Ann's face even more intensely.
Ann had always known that Selena was an exceptional boss, someone who took immense responsibility for every employee in the company.
For Austin, Sophia, Ronald, Ann, and Betty, she always went above and beyond to help.
But nothing had ever struck Ann as deeply as Selena's recent words: "If you need to place your emotions somewhere, place them in S.M Corporation."
Ann clutched her chest, feeling a pain so intense it was hard to breathe.
Most people, upon hearing about her attitude towards Connie, would think she was irrational. Who would use money to buy affection? Who wouldn't fight back after being treated so poorly?
No one would understand such obsessive, dark emotions.
But Selena not only understood, she recognized it as a psychological issue.
"Ann?"
Selena hadn't heard a response for a while and wasn't sure if Ann planned to keep dealing with Connie.
Ann was a hard worker, clear-headed in her professional life, but she became incredibly submissive when it came to matters of the heart.
However, she wasn't beyond help. She had once been deeply dependent on Brody, but after he married Jessica, she quickly moved on, showing that love wasn't as important to her as family.
Ann quickly wiped her tears, but no matter how much she wiped, they kept flowing like a broken faucet.
Her lips were chapped, and her face was swollen from being slapped twice.
Today had been humiliating at the office, and she knew people would look at her differently from now on.
But suddenly, she didn't want to leave S.M Corporation or a boss like Selena.
She remembered something Betty had said not long ago.
Betty had said, "We should work ourselves to the bone for S.M Corporation, to repay Ms. Fair, because she's the one who truly wants to pull us out of the darkness."
Betty was now a shining star in the entertainment industry, a phoenix risen from the ashes.

Ann envied her but also felt a deep sense of self-loathing because she lacked Betty's determination.
She always felt like a drifter, only held together by emotional ties.
Selena tried to stand up, wanting to check on Ann.
Ann, worried she might fall, quickly stepped forward.
"Ms. Fair, I'm okay. I know what to do now. I'll try not to call her anymore, but I don't want to see a therapist. I'll try to overcome this on my own, even if it means transferring my feelings to the man I'm seeing now."
Selena wanted to stop her because placing hope in someone else was giving them the power to hurt you.
But considering Ann's current state, if she didn't do this, she'd keep hoping for any response from Connie.
Thinking it over, transferring a bit of her emotions to that man wasn't the worst idea. "Alright, just take care of yourself. When you think of your mom, call that man instead. I don't know who he is, but if he ever hurts you, I hope you'll leave him as decisively as you left Brody."

Ann silently wiped her tears again and nodded, indicating she understood.
As she helped Selena out, Connie was still being restrained by two bodyguards. Seeing them, Connie became extremely agitated. "You blind witch, what did you say to Ann? She's been corrupted by your company! A rotten leader like you must be a terrible person!"
Connie had no idea she had just stirred up a hornet's nest.
Initially, everyone in the company was just watching the scene unfold, but Connie's words instantly ignited their anger.
A girl with a short temper threw a cup of coffee at her.
"Watch your mouth, you bitch! You can't talk about Ms. Fair like that!" she shouted.
Others quickly chimed in.
"Good job! She deserves it!"noveldrama
"Do you know we can sue you for this? Looks like everything you said about Ann is a
lie. Get out of here! If you don't leave, my hand will meet your face!"
Several higher-ups even rolled up their sleeves, ready to charge at her.
If the bodyguards hadn't held them back, Connie would have been mobbed.
What do you think?
