Chapter 839

Chapter 839:

Allan rested his hands gently on her shoulders.noveldrama

“Rachel, listen. I probably won’t ever get married for real, so you don’t have to feel bad about any of this. If anything, I should be thanking you. If you hadn’t agreed to this, I never would’ve moved in.”

“Why?” Rachel asked, confused.

“You’ll understand someday,” Allan said, leaving it at that.

By the time they got there, it was late. Instead of giving her a tour, Allan led her straight to the second floor.

“This is the master bedroom. You should sleep here tonight.” Allan pushed open the door.

Rachel hesitated.

“But this is your room, isn’t it? I can just take another room.”

Allan shook his head.

“The moment you agreed to marry me, I had this room redone to match your taste. It’s yours now. I’ll take another room.”

Rachel opened her mouth to argue, but seeing the certainty in his eyes, she gave in.

“Alright.”

Allan smiled and ruffled her hair lightly.

“Get some rest. It’s been a long day.”

Rachel nodded as he left, then slowly shut the door. Leaning against it, she let out a deep breath, but the unease in her chest remained. The wedding might have been a sham, but Allan’s warmth and thoughtfulness felt real.

As the night stretched on, Rachel lay awake, unable to drift off. No matter how much she tried to push her thoughts aside, her mind kept circling back to everything that had happened.

Just then, a soft knock broke the silence.

“Rachel, are you still up?” Allan’s voice came through the door.

Rachel froze for a moment, caught off guard by his sudden presence. After a brief hesitation, she got up and walked to the door. Allan stood there, holding a cup of warm milk, his expression filled with concern.

“I noticed your light was still on,” he said. “Are you having trouble sleeping?”

Rachel sighed and nodded, stepping aside to let him in.

“Yeah, I guess today was a lot to take in.”

Handing her the cup, Allan said,

“Here, try some warm milk. It might help you relax.”

Rachel took it from him and sipped slowly. The warmth spread through her, easing the tightness in her chest, even if just a little.
