Brian’s lips curved slightly, as if he had a lot to say, but his heart was racing too fast.

For a brief second, he felt the urge to step toward her.

Rachel walked out, and right after, Ronald stepped in. He noticed Brian opening a drawer and pulling out a small, elegant box.

Brian shut the drawer firmly and let out a bitter chuckle. “Ronald, don’t you think I’m pathetic? I can’t even give her a simple birthday present.”
