Revenge is best served cold

Chapter 226 Full of Malice Toward You

After changing into the new outfit, I walked out of the office with Eric. As soon as we turned the corner, we ran into Elsa, who had just come down from the meeting room upstairs.

It was hard to tell if she had been arguing with Jack, but her expression looked off, and Jack wasn't with her. She froze when she saw us, but to my surprise, she

came over.

"Is this the new outfit Eric bought for you?" Elsa asked, her eyes gleaming with envy.

Turning her gaze to Eric, she said shyly, "Eric, you're so good to Jane. I wish I could find someone who treats me that well."

Eric gave a small smile, but his gaze remained cold. "That's just too basic."

At his words, Elsa blinked in confusion and asked, "What do you mean, too basic?"

"I'm talking about you," Eric said, rolling his eyes with no hint of mercy.

Elsa's face paled in an instant.

I seized the opportunity and added, "What's the matter? Is Jeremiah treating you poorly? Or is Jack bad to you?"

Elsa bit her lip, looking all innocent. "Jane, you're misunderstanding me. I didn't mean anything bad. I was just admiring how good Eric is to you. I don't have any ill intentions."noveldrama

As she spoke, she shot a glance at Eric.

I suddenly realized this was the exact same way she had tried to seduce

Jeremiah before. Back then, I was too naive to see through her. I walked closer to her while wearing a smile and whispered in her ear, "I'm full of malice toward you. Move aside."

With that, I pushed Elsa aside and grabbed Eric's arm, walking away.

As we turned the corner, I instinctively glanced back at Elsa and caught the jealousy and resentment in her eyes, which she hadn't managed to hide.

Once we got in the car, Eric said softly, "Elsa..."

Hearing Elsa's name come from Eric, I suddenly felt an odd tension. I slowly raised my eyes to meet his while trying to keep my composure.

Eric seemed to notice my unease, and a slight smile appeared in his eyes.

"Why does Elsa always treat others like fools? She was practically making eyes at me just now. Her eyes nearly twitched from all that effort."

I couldn't help but laugh at Eric's words. I had always assumed Eric had no interest in Elsa, but I didn't expect him to have such a blunt opinion of her.

He frowned. "Was she trying to flirt with me just now?"

I nodded. "Most likely."

He scoffed. "That was the lowest form of flirting I've ever seen. Jeremiah really has a thing for that, huh?"

I smiled faintly, my thoughts drifting. When Jeremiah and I first got married, Elsa had acted the same way toward him. She had given him endless compliments and just the right amount of flattery.

But Eric saw through Elsa's intentions immediately while Jeremiah couldn't even tell. Or perhaps he had noticed, but he had chosen to live in the fantasy world Elsa had built for him, unwilling to acknowledge the truth. And that was how he kept hurting me.

"Are you okay?" Eric's voice broke me out of my thoughts.

I snapped out of my thoughts and met his concerned gaze. I quickly shook my head. "I'm fine. I just spaced out for a bit."

Eric immediately furrowed his brows and looked at me with a hint of curiosity in his eyes. "Are you still thinking about Jeremiah?"

I pushed him lightly and let out a helpless laugh. "Yes."

As his gaze darkened, I casually continued, "I'm just wondering when I'll finally be able to bring them down."
