Shrouded Affections Winning Back My CEO Wife

Chapter 1214

Chapter 1214:

“She’s here to stir up trouble, no doubt,” Presley said coldly. “She’s been causing enough headaches for her; she’s fighting back now.”

Amoura frowned. “I could win this project when she wasn’t involved. But now? Who knows what might happen? Find a way to make her leave.”

“Relax. Since Gerry has invited you, the deal is almost done. If Eileen’s here to interfere, it’ll only make her look desperate.” Presley’s thinking was straightforward. “Look at her—clearly here to make a move. Gerry won’t be pleased if Eileen tries to snatch the deal. After all, this is his turf. If Eileen uses the Dawson family to strong-arm people, everyone will see her as overbearing, and no one will want to do business with her anymore.”

Amoura believed Presley’s words made sense. If Eileen made a move to snatch the project, it would only backfire, and she would alienate people in the business world. Amoura nodded, though uneasily. “Keep an eye on Eileen. Don’t let her get close to Gerry.”

“Okay, leave it to me.” Presley gave a reassuring nod and walked toward Eileen with a smile.

“Mrs. Dawson, it’s been a long time since we’ve seen each other.” Presley raised her glass, clinking it against Eileen’s.

The room suddenly fell silent. Everyone watched the scene, curious and anxious. The Deleon Group and Eileen were sworn enemies. What could possibly make Presley pretend to be nice to Eileen like this?

Eileen swirled her drink and just smiled at Presley.

Presley said, “It seems you didn’t know that Bryan and I met each other at the club that day. I hope you two didn’t have a fight because of this.” She couldn’t care less about everyone’s attention as she spoke. Her words were loud enough to draw gasps. This was a direct jab.

Eileen’s smile didn’t falter. She even clinked her glass with Presley’s. “You’re right, I didn’t know that. Bryan doesn’t bother with trivial things.”

Presley said, “So, Bryan’s old classmates and Gibson are ‘trivial’ now?”

The tension in the room grew palpable. The people around them didn’t want to eavesdrop, but they couldn’t resist the pull of gossip like this. They were curious, eager to listen, yet nervous about getting caught in the crossfire.

The crowd shifted awkwardly, unsure whether to stand and watch or quietly slip away.

Eileen didn’t miss a beat. “Class reunions are normal. Bryan was catching up with his old friends and teacher. Nothing worth mentioning.”

Eileen’s smile remained intact. “Why do you think he needs to tell me about the matter? Do you think you’re special enough to him to make him want to tell me this?”

Eileen had turned the tables, forcing Presley to admit her intentions.

Presley felt the tension rise and said, “Of course not. I just think…”

“That’s good,” Eileen interjected. “I’m not interested in what you think. Women tend to overanalyze things emotionally. Just try to control that in the future.” Eileen took a sip of her wine and added, “Here’s to you, for my husband. You may have only been his teacher briefly, but you’re still an elder to us.”

Then, Eileen set down her half-finished glass with a frown. “This tastes bad. You can keep enjoying it. I’m going to greet Mr. Schultz.”

From afar, Eileen noticed Gerry chatting with Amoura. Gerry acknowledged her with a nod and seemed ready to end the conversation with Amoura to speak with her, but Presley stopped her again.
