Shrouded Affections Winning Back My CEO Wife

Chapter 1223

Chapter 1223:

Milford replied, “Fair enough.”

Within minutes, the owner secured the lowest price available from the factory. Milford arranged a meeting with the owner the next day and left, feeling satisfied.

To maintain a respectable appearance, he wore a suit without a coat, enduring the cold as he waited at the bus stop.

Suddenly, a luxury car pulled up beside him. The window rolled down slightly, and hesitating, he leaned closer.

“Milford?” Presley called uncertainly from within the car.

“You’ve mistaken me for someone else,” Milford responded, straightening up and rubbing his hands for warmth.

Presley, who had seen Milford in disheveled attire before, hardly recognized him in his suit. After scrutinizing him for a while, she stepped out of the car and declared, “Doesn’t matter if you’re Milford or not, I’m here for you. Where are you headed? Let me drive you.”

Milford, busy with his phone, replied without looking up, “Nah, thank you. I can take the bus.”noveldrama

“I’m acquainted with your sister and Bryan,” Presley said, stepping closer and offering him a business card. Even without the card, Milford had pieced together Presley’s identity. She was from the Deleon Group and knew his sister, Zola.

“I don’t know,” Milford said, again trying to deflect. Seeing that Presley didn’t give up, he pocketed his phone and added, “What? Been in jail with her or something?”

Presley was left speechless.

Milford’s tone was laden with sarcasm, reminding Presley strongly of Eileen.

“If you truly know my sister, then you’d know that I’ve cut ties with her. And if you know Bryan, you’d know I have nothing to do with him. Why are you approaching me?” Milford ignored the business card Presley offered and moved away from her to wait for the bus.

Presley was a bit surprised, not anticipating such a strained relationship between Milford and Zola. She put away the business card and asked tentatively, “Do you know that Bryan is looking for you?”

Milford ignored her completely.

“Zola and Bryan are sworn enemies. He was responsible for her imprisonment. Don’t you feel compelled to seek justice for your sister?” Presley continued.

“Why do you concern yourself with the affairs of others?” Milford responded sharply. “Visit a beauty salon if you find yourself with spare time. Stay out of my business.”

Milford rolled his eyes at Presley and quickly boarded the arriving bus.

The bus driver, annoyed at Presley for blocking the bus lane with her car, scolded, “You think you own this road? Move your car immediately, or you’ll find yourself in serious trouble!”

All the passengers on the bus glared at Presley. Although Presley couldn’t hear their words, their expressions and harsh gestures made it clear they were quite angry with her.

There were no seats available on the packed bus. Milford stood in the center, gripping the handrail, as he started looking up the tableware manufacturing company online. The company didn’t carry a significant amount of debt, but clearly, they had no intention of paying it back. It seemed like the tableware business wasn’t doing well for them, likely due to issues with their sales approach.

Convincing them to pay up wouldn’t be too difficult. Milford didn’t take Presley’s visit seriously. Yet, Presley had been trailing him all day, following his every move until she eventually found out where he lived. The alley Milford lived in was dark and narrow, with a single door at the end. The place was isolated and far from ideal. A soft glow seeped through the door, and the sound of a girl’s voice drifted out from inside.
