Chapter 1293
Henry let out a sorrowful wail, upset because his grandpa wouldn't let him play. Mia scooped him up, taking him to wash his hands while he cried out for a "hug and cuddle!". Even though his grandson had ruined his artwork, Hansen's heart was still soft. He put aside his calligraphy brush, picking up Henry to wash the dark ink off his little hands.
Once they were clean, Henry started crying again, insisting on playing with the brush. He clung to his grandpa, and eventually, Hansen gave in, guiding Henry's tiny, tender hands with his own wrinkled ones to draw lucky phrases on the paper. Luckily, Henry didn't have much strength, so Hansen could control the brush's movement.
When Andre came home, he noticed two scrolls drying in the yard, one with a tiny handprint. The moment he saw it, he knew exactly who the culprit was! Entering the living room, he found Hansen looking resigned, while Mia watched their sweet son. Henry was supposed to be writing neatly on paper, but instead, he was pressing the brush down hard, turning its tip into a frayed mess.
Andre had barely sat down when Hansen said, "Andre, that brush cost me $12,000. You better handle this." Looking at his innocent yet destructive son, who was sweeping the table like it was a cleaning cloth, and then at his wife, who looked guilty, even the usually thrifty Mia couldn't help but say, "Honey, we should pay for it. I did my best today."
With a firm grip, Henry created his "masterpiece." Proud of his work, he brought it to his father to admire. Andre, looking at the two pieces of paper and the pitiful brush, joked, "Dad, how about we leave Henry here as payment?"
"I don't want him!" Hansen replied, lifting Henry by the armpits and placing him in Andre's arms. "Just pay up."
That night, Henry got himself a very expensive new toy brush. Despite his grumbling, when it was time to hang the scrolls, Hansen insisted on putting up the one with his grandson's handprint by the front door.
Molly leaned over, studying the handprint closely. "Chad, how many scoldings do you think our little nephew will get?"noveldrama
Chad replied, "Depends on how much mischief he gets into."
Back at the Cedillo household, Henry spent days chasing his grandpa, begging to be taught how to write with the brush. Hansen, seeing his grandson's potential, decided to nurture it! Molly, visiting her parents, saw the warm winter sun streaming through the window, wrapping around the grandfather and grandson.
Hansen was guiding Henry's small hand on the paper, teaching him to write. Hansen had bought a bunch of brushes for $10 each in bulk, just for Henry to use without worry. Even though it was all just play, and everyone knew Henry could barely hold the brush right, Hansen was happy to spend his time guiding Henry's little hand, indulging him. "My dear grandson, these tools have great significance. They're treasures passed down from our ancestors, with a history spanning thousands of years..."
As Hansen shared his knowledge, Henry sat on his grandfather's lap, "creating," perfectly in sync. The family packed their bags, and Molly's company had given her some time off. Wayne was basking in his mother's love every day, growing stronger. Even though Andre was on vacation, he took care of personal visits and obligations himself. Bruce also had the day off. "Naomi, have you told Leo about our vacation plans this year?"
What do you think?
