Chapter 822
Evelynn had been well taken care of at the Gray House and looked much better now. That said, her body was still weak. After playing with Yvette and Wilson, she grew tired, and a maid came to escort her back to her room for rest.
"Ms. Murray, thank you so much for spending time with Evelynn," Jordan said sincerely, his surprise evident in his voice. He never expected someone like Wilson, with his great status, to be so patient with Evelynn, playing with her without a hint of impatience.
Yvette shook her head. "It's no trouble at all. I really like her. Evelynn is very sweet."
Thinking of Evelynn's innocent and lovely nature, Wilson looked down at Yvette, his lips curving into a smile as he kissed her forehead. His deep, magnetic voice was full of tenderness as he said, "Baby, having a daughter like her would be wonderful."
The mere thought of having a daughter who resembled Evelynn made Wilson's mood lighten, and he found himself quite pleased by the idea.
Jordan watched this scene with growing astonishment. He couldn't help but think to himself, "Look at the Shadow Alliance's boss smiling like that. If they really had a daughter one day, he'd definitely be a doting father!"
Blushing slightly, Yvette pulled a note from her pocket and handed it to Jordan.
"Get everything on this list. These are essential ingredients to create the antidote. You can't miss a single one. The faster you bring them, the sooner we can save Evelynn."
Upon hearing this, Jordan couldn't contain his excitement. He quickly nodded and responded, "Of course, Ms. Murray! I'll get everything ready as quickly as possible!"
After speaking, he left in a hurry.
Yvette gently took Wilson's large hand and spoke softly, "Once Evelynn is healed, I'll take you to meet Mr. Maximillian."
Wilson knew that Yvette regarded Theodore as a father figure, and their relationship was deeply important to her. Her offering to take him to meet Theodore was a clear sign that she considered him a keeper.
A deep smile curved his lips, his voice soft and full of affection. "Alright, I'll follow my baby's plans."
Yvette was satisfied with his answer.
"I guess it's necessary to prepare a gift when meeting your family," Wilson said, his eyes fixed tenderly on her. "Baby, what does Mr. Maximillian like?"
Samuel silently muttered, "Ah, Mr. Quinn is at it again—using his wealth to win over Yvette's family."
"Well..." Yvette blinked her eyes and thought for a moment.
"Mr. Maximillian really likes money," she finally said.
Wilson's soft laugh filled the air. It was as though he found her answer endearing.
"That's just like my baby."
Standing nearby, Samuel couldn't help but stifle a laugh. "He certainly is Ms. Yvette's mentor. Both of them have a particular fondness for money."
"Don't worry, I have plenty of money!" Wilson's hand gently caressed Yvette's slim waist as he spoke, his deep, magnetic voice slow and deliberate.
Yvette immediately frowned in protest. "No! Your money is mine!"
Her words made Wilson laugh. It was a low, deep chuckle that sent a shiver down her spine.
"Yeah, all of this money belongs to my baby. I'm just sharing some of it to honor Mr. Maximillian."
...
The global broadcast of the International Medical Congress' competition instantly made Yvette famous.
At just 18 years old, she was already
a world leader in medical science.
Her talent was unparalleled, and
countries were scrambling to recruit her. Jubilife University's phone lines were overwhelmed with incoming caffs.
Meanwhile, a mysterious man-whose face was obscured by a strange mask- repeatedly watched a recording of the competition. A strange light flickered in his eyes.
"If I'm not mistaken, this Yvette was on the list of experimental subjects."
"Yes, Master!" Varian responded respectfully. "Yvette was one of the first batch of test subjects we captured in Croedal ten years ago."
Hearing this, the man's eyes gleamed beneath his mask, and he immediately pressed on, "Did we inject her with the drug?"
"Yes, Master. The first batch of test subjects were all injected with the drug."
Varian's face darkened as he continued. He vividly remembered how difficult that time was.
"The Murray family chased us relentlessly. We couldn't compete with them on their turf, so we had retreat in haste. In the chaos, we forgot to bring her along. She was later adopted by a member of their branch family.
"We thought she was a failure, so we sent people to eliminate her. But none of those attempts succeeded!"
"So, she was injected with the potion after all?" The man's hoarse voice, now tinged with excitement, grew louder.
"She's only 18, yet her talent is extraordinary. Don't you think there's something more to it?"
Hearing this, Varian's expression shifted. His tone became urgent. "Master, do you mean..."
"Yes, she must be a successful test subject!" The man's smile beneath the mask twisted into a sinister grin, and he let out a chilling laugh that sent a shiver through the room.
"Finally, a successful test subject!"
He had waited so long for this day to come.
"Do whatever it takes to bring her back alive!"
"Yes, Master!" Varian's eyes sparkled with fanaticism. He was so excited that his entire body trembled.
The first batch of the 51 babies had all been failures and disposed of, but he never expected that the one successful test subject had survived.
Once they captured Yvette, the research would be complete, and their final experiments would succeed.noveldrama
