The Alpha King's Hybrid Mate

Chapter 52

Jared ran through the woods, scanning the environment as he leaped into the pack. It was beginning to get dark, and fortunately for him, he wasn't noticed as he stealthily ran into his house. He headed straight to his study, groaning in pain as he held his bleeding arm.

"Nicolas!" He called out, and a man jumped inside through the window.

"Sire. You called me." He said, placing his arm across his chest as he bowed before him.

"I got injured, and no one must know of my injury. Bring me that medicine." He pointed to a silver bottle that laid on the desk while he crashed on the seat.

Nicolas took the bottle and handed it over to Jared.

Jared forcefully tore the part of his clothes were he had been injured, revealing a deep claw-like injury. Nicolas knew he must have been involved in some sort of a brutal fight, and the assassination didn't go as planned.

"I thought Killian and his wolf were still weak, how come you are injured so badly?" Nicolas asked, staring at the wound in shock. The person that injured him must have scratched his arm so badly with his claws.

"It's not Killian. I would have killed Killian for sure if not for her sudden appearance. Ouch!" He let out a cry as he poured the powder on the wound, which gave him a sharp and intense pain.

He then tore another part of his clothes and wrapped it around his injury.

"Who? Sara? Did she come back?" Nicolas asked, his eyes protruding out of their sockets. He was shocked to hear that Jared was injured by a female, and the only female power that could hurt him was none other than the Luna's power.

"Or it could be..." his eyes widened as he uttered the words. Jared gave him a short, sharp stare and he understood immediately.

He gasped, covered his mouth in bewilderment;

"The moon priestess?" Nicolas asked, while Jared nodded.

"How? I mean how did she suddenly appear? You could have finished Killian off without effort, but she arrived just to ruin our plans?" Nicolas screamed, while Jared placed his finger on his lips.

"Lower your voice. Beware of hearing and speaking walls." Jared warned, while Nicolas hurriedly held his lips.

Jared drew in a sharp breath. He banged his hand on the desk and gritted his teeth. "Damn that idle moon priestess. I could have finished Killian and become the next Alpha of the pack. But she ruined all of my plans. Thankfully, I was careful enough not to give myself away. I applied a strange perfume which prevented them from getting my real scent, plus I didn't use any of my widely known moves during the fight." Jared muttered, wiping off the blood that trickled down his arm.

"That's great to hear. We can wait for another opportunity to launch an attack on Killian in the future, as long as we lay low and our covers are not blown." Nicolas uttered, with a little smile.

"Sure." Jared replied, and hurriedly looked up as if he had suddenly remembered something.

"The armies that I told you to train in secret, how is it going?" Jared asked Nicolas. "It's going smoothly. They are being trained, and are..."

"Shush!" Jared bellowed, placing his finger on his lips. Some footsteps could be heard moving towards them, causing Jared to fix his gaze on the door.

He grabbed his sword and slowly began to unwiled it. The footsteps seemed to subside for some seconds before coming back to live.

Jared and Nicolas heartbeats increased, and could be heard by themselves, making a rhythmic pattern as they took turns to beat hard. Suddenly, a knock was heard on the door.

"Father, are you inside?" Lydia's voice cut into the air, which caused the two men to catch a breather. Jared hurriedly signaled to the man who caught the meaning and jumped out through his normal route, the window.

"Father?" Lydia called again, knocking on the door for the second time.

"Are you inside?" She asked, but this time, got a response.

"Sure dear, you can come in." Jared replied and the door instantly opened.

Lydia walked inside, while Clara followed from behind. Jared was a bit shocked to see Clara but he tried not to show it.

He had always tried to avoid Clara after Savannah's death because of her extreme smartness which he believed could be used against him one day.

He knew that since she could advise Lydia to kill her best friend, she can tell her to do the same to him.

"Father, I want to have a discussion with you, and I know you will answer me because you are the only person that truly loves me." Lydia said, pulling Jared's hand back and forth.noveldrama

"Of course, my love. What's it about?" Jared asked. A mixture of surprise and curiosity on his face.

"It's about Killian, and you know how much I love him. So I want to plead with you to please give up your dreams for me, so I can be with the oven of my life." Sara begged, but Jared's warm smile slowly disappeared, replaced by a cold, piercing stare.

"Absolutely not! Don't be ridiculous Lydia." He screamed. He noticed he had hurt Lydia by his words and slowly pull her closer to him.

"I am sorry I had to talk to you that way, but you know that that's what I have been planning for all my life, it won't make any sense that I just discard it for no reason." He said, pulling Lydia in for a hug.

Lydia's eyes caught the sight of a blood-stained cloth lying on the floor, she carefully scanned Jared's body, careful not to alert him. She gasped as she saw a deep wound covered by a piece of cloth which was already getting stained by blood.

"Clara was indeed right." Lydia thought within herself, closing her eyes as she has no other choice but to go with their plan B.

She slowly withdrew herself from Jared's hold, and stared into his eyes.

"Dad, your injury...how did it happen?"

"What?"
