Book 3 Chapter 42.
Maverick POV.
We remained true to our word and allowed Melody to come to the next scan; she was crying, watching as her little sister kicked and rolled inside her safe haven, of her mom's womb.
Melody was so happy, she even was a little bit smug. She said I told you so. My little girl, no, not just mine. Our little girl is just wonderful.
I have been getting ahead of myself and I may or may not have gone overboard with the all the baby things, add in the fact that Melody has helped and everything is pink and glittery. But you know what, I don't give two fucks.
Melody has in no way been left out of anything related to her baby, her words. Every time we buy something for the baby, Melody gets something. Melody even has been practicing changing diapers and bottle feeding on her dolls. Even singing lullabies. Harmony and I both know Melody is going to be the best big sister there ever was.
Harmony is now seven and a half months along and time is ticking. She carries our daughter well. Every time I look at her and see that bump, I feel a swell of pride in my chest. Harmony is my woman and I will be making it official.
Me with the help of Melody and the ole ladies we have organised a baby shower for Harmony, she didn't want a gender reveal or anything flashy. She was more than happy to just have a family dinner. But once Rebel got a hold of that information, she went into stealth planning ninja mode and so Rebel has been heading up this shower.
Obviously I have helped too, Dante, Scythe, and Wildchild, sat me down and told me it would be best if us men stayed out of the planning, because when Rebel and the ladies get together. It will be all out chaos, considering Harmony is her daughter. So against my better judgement.
I, like the idiot I am, went against their sage council and went head to head with Rebel. What shocked me more was that she yielded and now I am part of the planning committee. But there was another reason why I went to Rebel, her husbands, and son. I am old school; I wanted their permission to marry Harmony, and they agreed. It was so simple; I was expecting a beating. It never happened.
So during her shower tomorrow I will propose to my Harmony and we will be married before our daughter Faith is born.
A lot has been going on over the last five months. The coffee shop has been complete and is back open and the bar opened last month.
Harmony being Harmony named the bar The Secret Cupboard. I asked why and she laughed and said that growing up, her mom and nanna had a secret cupboard where they would sit inside and drink wine away from the prying eyes of the kids.
I laughed when she told me. I could never imagine Rebel or Angel hiding from their kids and husbands in a cupboard with a bottle of wine, just to get some peace and quiet.
So now I sit on the sofa in our house with Mystique resting her head on my lap as Harmony helps Melody with her reading and spellings. I can hear their giggles coming from the kitchen and turn my head to see what they are both doing.
Harmony is sitting next to Melody, giving her her undivided attention as she helps Melody with her spellings. I did offer to help but was shooed away by Melody and I quote it is mommy and me time. Well, that told me.
Besides, I am the bedtime story reader. Harmony and I work like a well-oiled machine. We work together and it is so easy when you are with the right woman.
"Daddy, I got it right. Look!" I smile as Melody comes bounding in to the living room waving a piece of paper. I chuckle as I sit up and Mystique moves to get down so Melody can climb up, but not before Melody hugs Mystique.
"Wow, let me see." I say as I lift her and plop her on my lap and I kiss her head, reading the words and I smile. She is doing so well. Melody is really smart and is so curious about the world around her.noveldrama
Harmony moves to the other sofa and sits down, watching us with a gentle, loving smile on her face.
"This is awesome Melly, you are such a clever girl. Well, I think this deserves a treat. What do you say?" I ask her and she cheers and claps her hands.
"Not tonight. It is someone's bedtime. Tomorrow you can have your treat, Melly. It's time for bed," Harmony says, and Melody nods her head with a smile.
"Ok, mommy. Can I have cake tomorrow?" Melody asks, and Harmony and I both chuckle.
"Of course you can, but you little lady must get your butt upstairs and in bed so daddy can read you a bedtime story. Then tomorrow you can have some cake. How does that sound?" Harmony is so good with her. I couldn't ask for anyone better than Harmony to be the mother to my girls and to be my wife, my ole lady.
Melody doesn't need telling twice. She climbs down from my lap and grabs my hand to pull me up so I can read her story so she can get her cake. Melody knows she can have all the cake she wants tomorrow. I'm actually shocked that Melody has kept the shower a secret. But she has. Harmony has no clue what is happening tomorrow.
After I have read Melody her story, after the first chapter, she is out like a light, snoring softly, and I chuckle, kissing her head as I leave the room. Only for Mystique to walk inside and lay down by the side of her bed.
I walk to our bedroom and Harmony is already in bed with her smut book open, but she is asleep. I chuckle at her. Heading to the bed, I remove the book from her fingers and lift her to lay her down, covering her back up. I head to the bathroom to shower.
Tomorrow is going to be a great day and I know Harmony is going to love it. Well, I hope she does. The thing about Harmony is she doesn't do flashy even though she could, no amount of money, jewels, cars, designer goods. None of that truly interests her. What interests her is loyalty, family, friends and love. The rest is just material.
After I have showered, I do a walkthrough of the house to make sure everywhere is secured and locked tight. It is, Harmony would have done it, but I always check.
Walking back up the stairs, I head to our room and climb in bedside my woman. No sooner am I laying down Harmony wiggles closer, seeking my warmth and scent. Holding her in my arms, she settles.
But Faith, well, she is moving around, kicking me in the process. Our little girl is always active of a night. Harmony groans and rolls onto her back. I take the opportunity to lift her top and talk to Faith.
"Little miss Faith, let mommy sleep. It won't be long until you are here with us and we can't wait for that day. Now, sweet one. Settle down and rest. We have a busy day tomorrow." I say, kissing Harmony's swollen belly, which earns me a soft kick from our daughter. I chuckle, pulling Harmony's top back down and snuggling into her side.
Smiling like a fool, tomorrow I will propose and then if she says yes, we will marry in a month. Harmony is it for me, like I am it for her.
