The Double or more Life of the Fake Heiress (Mirabella)

Chapter 1466

"It's all because of that Mirabella, she even doubted me, saying she won't let me off even after finding out?" Mandy was getting more and more upset, "Just because she comes from a wealthy family, has connections, and knows the Shepherd family, such an ungrateful person."

Upon hearing this, Summer's brows furrowed slightly, but she soon comforted, "You shouldn't be angry with that kind of person. It's not worth it."

Mandy shook her head, "She doesn't see that it's my Delilah, I would never harm her!"

Summer's gaze flickered, simply saying, "Let her be, if we are upright, we shouldn't fear a crooked shadow."

After much soothing from Summer, Mandy finally calmed down.

"My daughter is so thoughtful. After we've taken care of your grandmother's funeral, don't delay any longer. It's time you went abroad. The Gilbert family will be counting on you from now on." Mandy held Summer's hand, patting it gently.

Summer's eyelashes fluttered down, hiding a fleeting scorn, and she nodded, "Yeah, I know."

On the other side.

After getting into the car, Mirabella leaned against the seat, lost in thought, her face pale and unresponsive even as her phone rang in her pocket.

As if she hadn't heard it.

James, sitting next to her, sighed softly, then turned to take the phone out of her pocket.

Seeing the caller ID, he answered the call for her.

It was Nick, who had learned about the afternoon's events from Atlas and was calling to inquire.

After glancing at Mirabella, James informed him about Catherine's passing.

Nick was silent for a moment.

When he went back to their hometown with Mirabella last year, he had realized how important Catherine was to her. Now, her sudden passing must have been a huge blow.

Taking a deep breath, for the first time, Nick spoke to James with seriousness, "Please take good care of my sister these next few days."

James agreed, not saying much more, and quickly hung up the phone.

Mirabella seemed to come back to herself, turned her head to James, and finally spoke, "Was that Nick?"

James hummed softly, putting the phone down, then took Mirabella's hand firmly, his voice low, "Let it out if you're feeling bad."

Mirabella forced a smile, merely saying, "Do me a favor."

"You want Catherine's medical records," James guessed, thinking back to what Mirabella had said to Mandy.

"Yes." A hint of fierceness appeared in Mirabella's calm eyes, "I don't believe she just left like that."

Talking about life and death is easy, but facing it is difficult.

James nodded, "Okay."

"Thank you." Mirabella closed her eyes after speaking.

Seeing this, James took off his jacket and covered her with it.

Despite the car's heating being on high, her palms were still cold, which worried him.

Soon, the car stopped in front of the hotel.

Taking the elevator up to the top floor suite, James swiped the card to enter, about to insert the card into the power slot, but Mirabella, stopped his hand at the next moment.

Without the lights, the room was plunged into darkness.
