The Ex-Wife's Burning Elegance

Chapter 633

The police agreed and quickly went to find Sellers.

Once the officers had left, Haynes turned to Stella. "Just say you were helping out. Leave the rest to Attorney Whitman."

Stella glanced at Neville, silently asking for his opinion. Neville gave a subtle nod, signaling that she could accept Haynes's arrangement.

Good lawyers were hard to come by.

This was Neo-Vespera, after all-Haynes's territory. Any attorney he called would be among the very best.

Stella hesitated for a moment, then decided not to refuse.

While picking up some late-night snacks, Haynes called Attorney Whitman and asked him to come over, explaining the situation in detail.

Since Haynes had been with Stella the entire time, he could recount every detail clearly. That meant Attorney Whitman was able to grasp the full picture right away and prepare Stella's defense.

Haynes's willingness to help her came as a bit of a surprise.

But now wasn't the time to dwell on that.

For all their faults, Haynes and Jasper's crowd had never tried to kill her.

Sellers, on the other hand, had clearly meant to.

Soon, everyone had been gathered together.

The moment Sellers and Sherman laid eyes on Stella, a glint of icy malice flickered in their gaze.

If Stella hadn't crashed into Aurora, Aurora's hand wouldn't have been injured.

But before anyone could say a word, Jonathan strode up to Stella.

Without warning, he raised his hand, aiming a hard slap at her face.

It happened so quickly, no one had time to react.

By the time Stella realized what was about to happen, a rush of air swept past- Jonathan's hand was already coming down.

Her expression tightened, but it was too late to dodge.

Just as Stella braced herself-convinced this slap was unavoidable—a pale,

elegant hand shot out and caught Jonathan's wrist in midair.

"Mr. Williams, what exactly do you think you're doing?" Haynes's voice was sharpnoveldrama

and cold, his lips pressed in a thin line. His displeasure was unmistakable.

No matter how bad things had gotten between him and Stella, he'd never once laid a hand on her.

Who did this so-called brother think he was?

Even after their divorce, Haynes still saw Stella as his wife. Once Rackel's concert was over, he intended to stop involving himself in Rachel's affairs. Then, he and Stella could remarry.

She was the mother of his child-there was no way he'd ever leave Keen behind.

Jonathan shot Haynes a frosty glare. "How discipline my own sister is none of your business. As for you. His lips curled in a sneer. "You're just the ex-husband. You have no right to meddle in the Williams family's affairs."

At that, Neville chuckled.

"Family affairs?" he echoed, raising an eyebrow. "Funny, I don't recall the Williams family ever announcing a new daughter. Since when did Mr Williams have a sister? Did I miss the grand introduction, or thefamily brunch?"

He paused, sighing lightly. "First I've heard that hitting your own sister is considered a family matter. Aurora's your sister too, isn't she? Why not try hitting her?"

Neville had meant to step in earlier, but Haynes and Attorney Whitman had ended up in the perfect spot-just ahead of him. Haynes had beaten him to it.

Jonathan's face darkened at Neville's words.

He wasn't oblivious; he knew Neville was mocking him.

He stared daggers at Neville, his eyes cold and fierce.
