Chapter 912
"Ms. Cameron is Aurora's sister-how could I possibly lay a hand on her?"
Despite the explanation, both men from the Williams family looked far from reassured.
Skyler, especially, was seething inside.
Leonard's stunt was outrageous-he clearly didn't give a damn about them.
Aurora spoke up. "Leonard, you really crossed a line. Apologize to Star."
Leonard might've ignored anyone else, but not Aurora. He couldn't just brush her off.
He turned to Stella. "Ms. Cameron, I'm sorry for scaring you just now. I was only joking around, that's all."
Before Stella could reply, Jonathan cut in coldly, "Leonard, this is a family matter. The Williamses can handle their own affairs without interference from outsiders like you."
He paused, then added, "You've seen Aurora. It's time for you to go."
Leonard's sudden appearance had already caught both Skyler and Jonathan off guard. Now that he was here, they couldn't exactly throw him out, but no one expected him to pull a gun.
Aurora, sensing the tension, chimed in as well. "Leonard, you should head back. My father and brother need to talk to Star."
Leonard didn't argue. "Alright, I'll go. If anything comes up, just call me."
He swept his gaze over everyone in the room, his eyes lingering on each face.
"If anyone tries to hurt you..." he said, a sly smile tugging at his lips, "I'll make sure they pay, no matter who they are-even if they're family."
Skyler and Jonathan's faces darkened even further.
Arrogant bastard.
Leonard didn't care about anyone in the room except Aurora-not even her own family. His words left no doubt about the depth of his devotion.
With that, Leonard strode out of the Williams estate.
After the heavy front door closed behind him, he glanced back, a cold glint in his eyes.
On the drive back, Leonard's phone rang. It was Sellers.
"How's Aurora?" Sellers asked.
Leonard's voice was flat. "Her fever's broken, but she's still weak."
Sellers wanted to visit Aurora himself, but Skyler, already fed up with the messes caused by the Burton family, had taken an instant dislike to Sellers and refused to let him in the house.
Knowing Leonard was going to check on Aurora, Sellers called to get an update.
When Leonard confirmed Aurora was feeling better, Sellers finally relaxed.
He was about to hang up when Leonard suddenly said, "I ran into Stella at the Williams place today."
"Stella?" Sellers' tone shifted, growing icy.
Leonard recounted how he'd run into Stella and Haynes at the Williams estate- and how he'd pulled his gun.
Sellers was silent for a moment.
Typical Leonard-completely reckless.
It looked like the Williamses would be slamming the door on yet another visitor from now on.
Amused, Sellers asked, "Did Stella admit anything? Or did she look like she was about to faint from fear?"
Most men would've wet themselves
with a gun in their face. Stella, delicate as she was, had probably been so scared she could hardly
stand. Sellers almost hoped he'd
been there to see it.
But to his surprise-
"No," Leonard replied, his lips pressed in a tight, disgruntled line as he spoke into
the phone.
Leonard might be brazen and
arrogant, but he wasn't stupid
in the Williams family home
enough to actually shootnoveldrama
He'd wanted to rattle Stella, maybe even embarrass her a little. But things hadn't
gone quite as he'd planned.
What do you think?
