Chapter 563 Learned from Her
Yvette froze when she heard Sheldon's icy words.
Learned from her?
Distant memories suddenly resurfaced in her mind.
Many years ago, Vivian had gone out on a date with that man, and Yvette happened to see them. Yvette confronted Vivian, asking why she was seeing another man when she was already engaged to Charles.
And what did Vivian say to her back then?noveldrama
"Of course, I learned it from you, Yvette!"
Yvette had immediately denied it, but Vivian just smiled mockingly and continued, "Yvette, why are you pretending? Aren't you the same? We're sisters, so shouldn't we think as one? If not, why don't you marry Charles instead of me?
"The two families forming an alliance is what matters. Who cares which one of us marries Charles?"
Yvette had been so furious that she slapped Vivian and called her shameless.
But Vivian wasn't angry. She just calmly replied, "I'm shameless? Do you think you're any better? I learned it all from you, Yvette.
"You really think your secrets are safe? I just don't care to expose you! Alas, you just won't leave me alone. Now, you're all up in my business. Yvette, I'm your older sister. Have a little respect, will you?"
Yvette hadn't dared to keep arguing with Vivian. Instead, she turned on her heel and ran away.
Vivian hadn't slapped her back, but her words had haunted Yvette ever since.
Later, Yvette told their parents about Vivian and that man. Unsurprisingly, their parents separated the couple and forced them apart.
Vivian had said it was Yvette and the Jenkins family who ruined her-that turned her into who she became-and so, she was going to drag the entire Jenkins family down to hell with her.
Not long after, the entire Jenkins estate burned to the ground. Of the whole family, only Yvette survived.
Vivian had made sure every last one of them paid the price for her man, for her love.
Vivian had done it cleanly. She even managed to successfully marry Charles in the end.
That was why Yvette hated Vivian so deeply.
Why? Why her? What made her so special?
"Yvette, you want to die? It won't be that easy," Sheldon said again. "Even if you die, it'll be after you've suffered to the bitter end. So you'd better think it over."
With that, Sheldon turned and left the room.
The people guarding the room weren't just Kenton's men. Sheldon had placed his own in the shadows.
Once he finished what he had to do, he would go to Charles' side. He had to go there-so he could keep caring for Charles.
Sheldon walked out of the hospital and got into a black car. He pulled a photo of Charles from his pocket. The longer he looked at it, the more his eyes welled with tears.
"Mr. Holden Senior, I won't let Mr. Marcus get involved in any of this. What he needs to do now is live happily with Ms. Walker. Just like that, he'll be happy and healthy."
Sheldon's voice choked as he continued, "It's just a pity that I won't get to see Mr. Marcus and Ms Walker's baby. I really wanted to help take care of their child. But I can't let go of you, Mr. Holden Senior. Wait for me. I'll be joining you soon.
"When I get there, please don't push me away. You'll still have to pay me a high salary. I'll be working with you to conquer the underworld. We'll unite the entire afterlife and make it answer to the Holden family."
Sheldon smiled as he spoke. But before long, his smile turned into tears. How he wished everything he imagined could be real.
After leaving the hospital, Kenton immediately sent his men to Yvette's residence
in Dithoria. That house had a basement.
He also sent another team to Whitesand Isle. Two groups, going in different directions, were tasked with confirming whether Megan was truly dead.
Kenton, filled with anxiety, went straight to the hospital where Grace was staying.
When he arrived, he received a message from his men in Dithoria.
"Mr. Langley, I watched the tapes. I recorded the footage and sent it to you."
Kenton's hands trembled as he opened the video.
In the video, Megan was locked in the basement with her legs broken. After being tortured half to death, she eventually gave in and asked to freshen up.
And just like Yvette had said, while brushing her teeth, she took the chance to stab herself in the throat with the toothbrush when the guard wasn't watching.
The rest of the footage showed how her body was handled-stuffed into a suitcase, taken by Yvette to Whitesand Isle, and dumped without care.
Kenton watched the video, cold sweat covering his entire body.
Yvette hadn't lied. Megan really was dead. She had died a long, long time ago.
Kenton's legs felt like they were filled with lead. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't summon any strength. He looked up at Grace
lying in the hospital bed, oxynet
in place, and his eyes stung with tears.

After a long while, he forced himself to move, one step at a time, until he reached her bedside.
"Grace, I'm here." His voice was hoarse and choked.
Grace, who had been resting with her eyes closed, slowly opened them. "Kenton, you're here."
The moment she spoke, tears streamed from the corner of her eyes.
"Megan..."
"Grace, I found her. I found Megan." Kenton sobbed as he held her hand.
"She's on her way here now. Hang in
there!" He quickly pulled out his
phone and messaged Victor, asking him to find a woman around his
and bring her to the hospital
immediately.

"Kenton, is it... really true?" Grace's red-rimmed eyes widened. "Can I really... still
see... Megan?"
"It's true, Grace. It's true." Kenton
gripped her hand and nodded hard.
"She's already on her way. I beat the
truth out of that old hag, Yvette, before she finally told me where
Megan was.
"I've already sent people to bring her back. She'll be here very soon. Grace, you
have to hold on!"
"I'll hold on... I'll hold on..."
A smile slowly spread across Grace's face. The dull, lifeless light in her eyes was
replaced by a fragile but hopeful glow.
"I'll wait... for Megan... Megan, my daughter."
"Yes, Grace. We'll wait for Megan together."
"Okay... That's good..."
Though speaking was difficult, Grace suddenly seemed more alive. Her face lit up with a soft smile, her eyes fixed unblinkingly on the door of her hospital room. Kenton didn't dare tell her the truth-that Megan was already dead. The team at Whitesand Isle had just sent confirmation as well.
They had found the fisherman who had buried her—and eventually her grave. Grace was destined never to see her biological daughter again in this life. Perhaps this was retribution for turning a blind eye, even tacitly allowing Victor and Diana to abuse Natalie.
She had mistreated someone else's child-so in turn, Yvette mistreated hers.
The difference was that Natalie had a chance to return home.
Megan would never get that chance again.
