The Second Life of a Discarded Heiress

Chapter 789

Vester witnessed the whole scene and, in the end, had someone tell the boy his holiday request was approved. As if that weren't enough, he even gave the boy a generous sum as a gesture of goodwill, signing it under his own name.

Such kindness wasn't something you'd expect from someone with his background. Citrine believed he was nothing like his father.

And clearly, she'd bet on the right person.

A sudden smile broke across Vester's face.

He didn't press Citrine for details; instead, he got straight to the point. "Alright, what do you want me to help you with?"

Citrine answered him seriously. "I want the names of everyone overseas who was involved in the dirty business on Mirage Cay-and what part they played."

She paused for a moment, then added, "And beyond that, I need evidence of Mr. Archer's involvement in the Mirage Cay incident. Proof of his crimes."noveldrama

Her words were direct and unwavering. When she finished, she fixed her gaze on Vester, waiting for his response.

Vester hadn't expected her to be so forthright. He regarded her with a flicker of admiration in his eyes.

He didn't reply right away. Instead, he pulled out his phone and called his butler. "Bring me everything from the top shelf of my safe."

With that, he hung up.

A few minutes later, the Archer family's butler arrived, carrying a file folder.

Vester gave him a subtle nod, signaling him to hand it over to Citrine and her companion.

"Take a look," Vester said. "I think you'll find what you're looking for in there."

Citrine's expression turned grave as she took the folder from the butler almost immediately.

She tore it open and, as she scanned the contents, her eyes grew brighter with each page. She was almost breathless with excitement and disbelief when she looked up at Vester.

He saw her confusion and explained, "I hate my mother, and I hate Darius Archer. Neither of them deserve to be called parents. From the very first day I ended up in Darius Archers care, I wanted payback. When I was sixteen, I stumbled across what was happening on Mirage Cay. From that moment, I started collecting evidence of his crimes, hoping to use it to destroy him-and the Archer Group."

He looked at Citrine. "You saved my life. I promised you-everything I have is yours now."

"I've gathered almost everything there is on the other people involved. But when it comes to Darius Archer, my evidence isn't complete. You'll probably need to find more on your own."

Citrine hadn't expected to receive so much. She looked at Vester with genuine gratitude. "Thank you. This will help us a lot. You've done more for me than I could've hoped."

It was the first time Vester had ever seen a real smile on Citrine's face. Until now, her smiles always stopped short of her eyes. For a moment, he found himself staring, caught off guard.

Citrine, caught up in her own happiness, didn't notice his gaze. But Sebastian, who'd sat silently beside her the whole time, did.

No one understands a man's intentions better than another man. Vester's look was dangerous, and Sebastian knew exactly what it meant.

A sudden wave of jealousy hit him, leaving him on edge. He glared at Vester, his eyes cold and sharp.

Vester quickly noticed the glare and met Sebastian's gaze head-on, offering him a sly, provocative smile.

In the Federated States of Magnolia, they valued freedom above all else. Even if someone was already in a relationship, it never stopped them from going after what or who they wanted. They didn't see it as shameful; on the contrary, they thought it was a sign of courage.

Turning back to Citrine, Vester said, "Ms. Carmichael, all the dirt on Darius Archer is locked in his study I'm sure you already know that. But let me warn you-the safe in his study is wired with an alarm You'll only have ten minutes to crack the code before it alerts security. If you're not out by then, none of you will get away."

Citrine hadn't expected the alarm. She turned to Vester, deeply grateful. "Thank

you for the warning."
