Chapter 44
The staff member at the gate asked Grayson for his invitation.
"I'm sorry, I didn't think the event was that important, so it slipped my mind," he replied with an air of nonchalance.
I was momentarily speechless.
The woman blinked, her brows knitting together. "I'm sorry, sir, but who are you, exactly?" Her tone hinted at disbelief, as if silently asking, "Who forgets something so important for such a big event?"
Feigning surprise, I jumped in. "Ma'am, that's Mr. Grayson Blake! Are you sure you don't recognize him?"
Her expression turned sharp. "I don't care who he is!" she snapped. "Everyone must follow the rules, and a VIP ticket is mandatory! It was clearly stated on the invitations! Tch! Why do some people think they're above the rules?"
She rolled her eyes dismissively. I was caught between frustration and discomfort, unsure how to react. Grayson's calm demeanor couldn't mask the sting of public humiliation inflicted by her actions.
Before I could respond, a middle-aged man-clearly the head organizer-rushed toward us, his face flushed and his breath coming in short gasps. Grayson had already told him to prioritize my presence at the event over the phone and not to fuss over him.
Upon seeing Grayson, the man's eyes widened in recognition, but my husband's sharp, narrowed gaze immediately put him on edge. The man seemed to piece together the situation instantly, likely already aware of the delicate, unspoken connection between Grayson and me.
"W-where is Ms. Isabella Prescott?" the head organizer stammered, his nervous tone betraying his unease.
"Here!" I said quickly, raising my hand.
He turned to me with visible relief. "Ma'am, we did send you the VIP invitation, didn't we?"noveldrama
I could feel the weight of every gaze around us, the silent question etched on their faces: 'How does she have a VIP invitation?'
'Because I'm the tyrant boss's baby, that's how,' I thought wryly but kept the remark to myself.
"Yes, I have it right here," I replied, pulling the invitation from my clutch bag.
The female staff member who had been interrogating me earlier swallowed hard. "If you had the VIP pass, why didn't you mention it from the start?"
It seemed like she was trying to place the blame on me for the situation.
"Miss, you know I'm just a lowly actress. I didn't want to draw attention to myself at such an event. Besides, I wanted to stay with the Golden Stage team since they're the reason I was nominated. I already mentioned that I arrived thirty minutes early."
I pretended to check my watch. "I've been here for quite some time, and they still won't let me in. The ever. start."
"We thought you only had a regular invitation," the woman explained, stumbling over her words.

"Ms. Prescott, I deeply apologize for my staff's behavior." the head chief interjected, turning to the female staff, "This is your last day with the company. Your poor service is already drawing criticism from our management!"
Grayson stepped forward, his tone surprisingly calm. "Ms. Prescott, I seem to have misplaced my ticket, but I decided to

attend the event anyway. If my staff retrieves the VIP ticket from the office, it might
be too late to get in... Would it be alright if I joined you as your plus one?"
My cheeks flushed. It felt almost like a scene from a movie. The head chief cleared his throat, visibly thrown by Grayson's uncharacteristic humility.
"Since you're already here, Mr. Blake, it would be a shame to waste the plus one; I'll invite you inside." I glanced at the head chief. "That's acceptable, isn't it?"
"Absolutely, Ms. Prescott! Right this way, please!"
After the exchange, Grayson and I were escorted inside. Now, I was eagerly anticipating Charlotte's reaction when she realized that not only had I gotten in, but I had also secured a seat at the very front.
In terms of hierarchy, my seat was even more prestigious than where the top actors and actresses would sit!

The intensity of the gaze behind me was palpable. Grayson and I were casually seated next to each other, our hands hidden under the coat I had draped over my lap. No one seemed to notice.
When the Best Supporting Actress category approached, he squeezed my hand in silent support.
The nominees and clips from our respective films were displayed on the screen. Sabrina was also one of those I was competing against. Last year's movies and dramas were still under consideration, and she hadn't yet risen to the fame she enjoys now.
When they called my name as the winner, my heart stopped. In a daze, I approached the stage and accepted the award.
"I'd like to thank everyone for this honor. It's no secret that I took a break from acting because, let's be real, the job can be exhausting. But tonight has shown me that all the struggles we endure do pay off! As I've told my fans, I'll keep chasing my dream."
My eyes found Grayson's in the audience.
"Thank you for your support. I promise to keep giving my all," I concluded.
While the crowd might have thought I was addressing the fans with those words, Grayson and I both knew they were meant for him.
The applause thundered through the hall.
That night, my name was everywhere, capturing the public's attention. Clips of me being scolded by staff resurfaced, as did photos from the red carpet.
However, they also questioned why I received a VIP pass for the event. With
reporters present at the gate, it was revealed that I had even invited Mr. Grayson Blake as my plus-one.
