too late for a second chance novel (Lila and Dorian)

Chapter 483

Amelia paused and thought for a moment. Then, she shook her head. "I don't know. There are too many variables at play.

"Setting aside the conflicts, Morgan Group has been a target for Falkoria's sanctions for a long time. Now that they've finally found an opportunity, they won't stop until they've done significant damage.

"The worst part is that the asset seizure happened so suddenly that Kieran didn't even have time to withdraw funds. Many banks in Falkoria have already frozen Morgan Group's accounts."

Noticing Lila's sinking mood, Amelia quickly tried to comfort her. "But don't worry. Think about it. Kieran built his business from the ground up. He's overcome many challenges before. This situation is tough, but it's not different compared to when he first started.

"At worst, he just has to start over. It might take three or four years, but things will get better."

Lila nodded, not wanting Amelia to worry. "I believe in Kieran."

But inside, her heart throbbed.

She wasn't sure if Morgan Group would recover from this if Kieran kept pushing himself like this. And she wasn't even sure if he would hold up under the strain.

Just as she was lost in thought, her phone buzzed with a notification.

It was a message from Kieran. "I need to travel abroad for two or three days. Make sure you eat properly, Mrs. Morgan."

Lila lowered her gaze and quickly typed a response. "Message received, Mr. Morgan. You take care too, and eat well. I'll wait for you!"

She hadn't expected Kieran to mimic her texting style and reply with a smiling emoji.

Amelia glanced at Lila's softened expression and immediately guessed who the message was from.

She lowered her eyes, continuing to run calculations in her mind.

Morgan Group wouldn't go bankrupt, but the financial losses would be severe. The biggest issue would be the employees. If the company had to downsize, layoffs would follow, and the costs wouldn't be cheap either.

This was going to be a long and painful process. Falkoria would keep getting in their way and who knew how much more time, money, and manpower would be needed to get through this? And even theno success wasn't guaranteed.

However, thousands of employees would be unemployed if they withdrew from the international market.

It was clear that Kieran wouldn't accept that outcome. That was why he had been working tirelessly.

But Amelia also understood there was only so much Joyce Group could do to help.

After finishing her meal, she didn't linger and soon left.

With Morgan Group in turmoil, the rest of the business world was in chaos too.

Lila sat for a while before returning to work.

She finally finished her work around 9:00 pm. As she stepped out of the

Lila walked over. "It's been a while, Ms. Moore."

Faith smiled. "It hasn't been that long. Want to grab a drink?"

When Lila didn't respond, Faith added, "I know it's late. Can you just spare me half an hour?"

Lila's gaze remained cool. "We don't really have anything to discuss."

She was exhausted, both physically and mentally. The last thing she wanted was

to waste time on Faith.

Faith knew what Lila was implying but didn't get upset. Instead, her smile remained.
