too late for a second chance novel (Lila and Dorian)

Chapter 520

Lila was momentarily puzzled. Was Matthew really following Michael's lead, or

was he just naturally reserved?

Taking advantage of Matthew's absence, she couldn't help but ask, "How did you

two end up sticking together? Why does it seem like Matthew listens to you so

much?"

Michael thought for a moment. "Really? He listens to you a lot too. Maybe it's

because I helped him out once. We barely spoke before that.

"Around the New Year, Cedric arranged for us to attend an event together, and

there was some guy with a higher status who was deliberately ordering him

around. Since we're from the same company, I obviously couldn't let that slide, so

I helped teached that guy a lesson."

Lila thought back to the time when she was in conflict with the Morgan family, and

most of her artists were being managed by Ethan.

She had briefly looked into Matthew's past, and it was indeed tragic.

His parents didn't care for him, nor did his grandparents. He had begun working

various jobs since his teenage years. When he worked at a bar, his good looks

often made him a target for unwanted attention.

Though he appeared cold, he lacked affection.

So, when people like Michael, Lila, and Ethan showed him kindness, Matthew

became fiercely loyal.

Being kind was a good thing, but being too kind would make one vulnerable to

deception. She would have to find time to teach him how to protect himself.

...

Time on set flew by, and soon, a week had passed.

Lila glanced at her phone, where Kieran had just sent her a message. It was a

photo of Nova obediently drinking water.

With the cooperation between the Moore family, the Morgan clan, and their

international operations starting up again, Kieran had been incredibly busy and

hadn't visited all week.

At Morgan Group Headquarters, Kieran was about to wrap up a discussion with

Faith regarding upcoming tasks before heading to the film set to see Lila when

Cole knocked on the door and entered. "Mr. Morgan, some people from the Moore

family are here."

Before he even finished speaking, a large group of people strode in.

Anyone unaware of the situation might have thought they were here to stage a

coup.

Leading the group was Faith's father, Dennis, the eldest of the Moore family. He

attempted to wear a warm smile, but his sharp eyes made the expression seem

unnatural.

Behind him were Harrison, Andy, and several assistants and bodyguards. The

spacious president's office suddenly felt rather crowded.

"Kieran, it's been years! You've become even more impressive," Dennis said with

a smile as he approached.

Kieran didn't move, while Faith stood up and gave a slight nod to the group. "Dad,

Uncle Harrison."

Dennis shot her a chilly glance, while Andy looked on with an amused expression.

After all, she had refused to help him the other day. Now that their father was

here, this useless daughter was sure to be punished.

Dennis' hand had been extended for several seconds, but Kieran showed no

intention of standing up.

His eyes darkened slightly.

The Morgan family was truly getting arrogant!

Back when Morgan Group was in

crisis, they should have pressured

Frances to intervene and completely

disrupt their domestic businesses.

If they had done that, Kieran wouldn't have the nerve to act so high and mighty

like he did now.

Finally, Kieran stood up. He was tall, with a cold presence which effortlessly

overpowered Dennis'.

After a brief handshake, Dennis maintained his smile, though there was a thorn in

his heart.

"I came today to have a little chat with you."

Kieran looked up. "Mr. Moore, please speak directly."

"You're as straightforward as ever."

Dennis chuckled. "You know, I only

have one son, Andy. The future of

Moore Group rests in his hands.

This time, I specially sent him to

learn from you, but the brat ended

up causing trouble. When I found

out, I immediately brought him here

to apologize."

They decided to apologize now, after a week? And he called this an immediate

apology?

Kieran replied unhurriedly, "The future of the Moore family depends on him?"

"Of course. He's my only son, after all," Dennis answered.

Faith found it amusing. Her father

had enough illegitimate children to

practically form a soccer team, yet

he had the nerve to say "only son."noveldrama

Kieran met Dennis' gaze. "I don't recall any law in this country stating that only

sons have the right to inherit."
