Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now

Chapter 849

Chapter 849:

Elissa lowered her head and gave a small shake. Of course, she didn’t. “Then it’s settled.”

Quentin received a pointed look from Ernest, and he picked up on it instantly. Then, his tone shifted slightly as he said to Elissa, “Miss Holland, Mr. Flynn’s schedule is quite tight. He can’t afford to wait for your decision.”

Hearing Quentin’s words, Elissa shivered, and a cold sweat broke out across her back. She nodded and earnestly said, “Then… thank you, Mr. Flynn.”

This time, Ernest finally spoke. “Sure.”

Elissa froze.

He spoke? Was he pleased or displeased?

Soon, the car pulled up to the sanatorium.noveldrama

To avoid making her feel uneasy, Ernest didn’t arrange for a fancy private villa. Instead, he’d chosen one of the townhouses. Once the door closed, it was a private space, but the yard was shared, giving it a less isolating feel.

“Miss Holland…” said Quentin as he helped her settle in and introduced her to a 24-hour caregiver. “Let the caregiver know if you need anything. Have I missed anything?”

“No, no.” Elissa waved her hands repeatedly. “It’s already more than enough. Thank you. And please thank Mr. Flynn for me.”

“Alright. You can stay here and rest easy,” Quentin said with a smile. “When the hospital is ready to proceed with the surgery, we’ll come get you.”

“Okay. Take care.” Elissa paused briefly, then added, “Mr. Flynn… take care.”

Standing at the door, Ernest curtly answered, “Okay.”

Once they left the sanatorium, Ernest headed straight to the TV station and waited for Linda to finish her recording.

As she stepped out of the building, she spotted him and frowned. “What are you doing here?”

She’d kept her distance from him lately, and she hadn’t been hiding it.

“Linda.” Ernest reached out and gently took her hand. “I came to take you to Winterley Restaurant. I’ve already ordered your favorite dishes. We can eat as soon as we get there.”

“Humph.” Linda scoffed and pulled her hand back. “Don’t bother with the superficial gestures. What am I, a child? You think a fancy meal is all it takes to fix things?”

Ernest frowned. “Then what do you want me to do?”

Linda raised a brow. “Would you really agree to anything I say?”

He nodded. “Yes. As long as it’s something I can do.”

At that, Linda’s expression shifted. A slow smile spread across her face as she slipped her arm through his and looked up at him. “Of course you can. Let’s go to my place tonight, okay?”

Ernest blinked, caught off guard. What was she getting at?

“Look…” Linda said sweetly, her eyes fixed on his. “Ernest, I want us to have a baby together.”

His breath caught. Of all the things she might have said, he hadn’t expected that. His throat tightened, unsure how to respond.

Linda gave his arm a playful tug. “You said I was being paranoid, didn’t you? Fine. Let’s have a child together. I won’t ask about Locke’s mother again. I swear.”
