Chapter 938
Chapter 938:noveldrama
But as his eyes landed on someone ahead, his steps halted.
Just beyond the steps, near the edge of the flowerbed, stood Linda. Her eyes were wide, stricken with shock and disbelief, as if the wind had been knocked out of her.
Ernest’s expression hardened. He strode down the steps without hesitation and went straight to her, gripping her wrist firmly.
“Let’s talk. Outside.”
Still dazed, Linda allowed herself to be pulled along, her mind spinning and her heart pounding. She couldn’t speak—could barely breathe.
Then, suddenly, reality hit her like a slap. “Ernest! Let go of me!” she shouted, jerking back.
He stopped and turned to face her, his voice low but steady. “Calm down. Whatever it is you want to ask—whatever answers you’re looking for—I’ll give them.”
“Will you now?” Linda scoffed, her voice trembling. Her eyes brimmed with tears, and a bitter laugh escaped her lips. “Now you’re ready to talk?” she sneered. “After all the times you looked me in the eye and swore you weren’t hiding anything? That there was no one else?”
Ernest’s brows furrowed, his silence heavy with tension.
“Say something!” Linda cried, her voice cracking. She grabbed his collar with both fists, her face contorted with rage. “Ernest—what is this? Tell me!”
Ernest was more confused than concerned. “How did you even find this place?”
Caught off guard, Linda’s eyes filled with even more tears. “Is that what you’re worried about right now? Ernest, what kind of person do you think I am?”
By this point, Ernest realized that his broken promise was the real issue. The details of how she discovered his location seemed trivial in comparison.
“I need to apologize.”

“Apologize?” Linda’s response was incredulous as she wiped away her tears. “Do you think saying sorry will fix everything? I want answers, Ernest! What’s going on with you and Elissa? How did this happen? Did she lure you in?”
“Linda!” Ernest’s expression hardened, and his tone grew grave. “You shouldn’t speak about Elissa like that. She’s not involved.”
“Oh?” Linda scoffed, her laugh bitter. “So you’re protecting her now? Claiming she’s unaware? She drew in my partner, and yet she’s blameless?”
Overcome with emotion, Linda released Ernest and hurried toward the house. “I need to confront her myself to see if she has any integrity left!”
“Wait, Linda.” Ernest caught her arm just in time.
He sighed deeply, shaking his head. “It’s me who’s at fault here, not Elissa. She’s blameless. I’ve wronged her. She had Locke at such a young age. She’s suffered too. Any anger you have should be directed at me.”
Linda’s shoulders shook as she cried uncontrollably.
Indeed, Elissa was Locke’s mother.
Elissa was Locke’s mother!
“You knew about her for a long time!” Linda’s vision was clouded with tears as she confronted him. “So, you’ve been hiding her, and there was something between you two!”
“Not at all!” Ernest replied urgently, his voice strained with denial. “I was merely fulfilling an obligation towards her. Before you ended things and flew to Storia, I had no romantic feelings for her!”
Linda’s shock was evident, her eyes widening. “Did my departure give you the chance to start this relationship?”
