Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now

Chapter 960

Chapter 960:

She stared at him, flustered and unsure what to do next—

“Mommy!” A sleepy voice echoed from the other room.

“Yes, I’m here, sweetie!” Hadley’s expression hardened. She shot Eric a warning look. “Let go. Joy’s awake!” Reluctantly, he released her.

Hadley scrambled off the sofa and rushed into Joy’s room. “Joy, sweetheart, you’re awake? Mommy’s here.”

After Joy washed up, she emerged smiling and ran straight to Eric. “Mr. Flynn!”

“Joy!” He lifted her with a grin, sneaking a glance at Hadley—who avoided looking at him altogether.

Eric let out a dry chuckle. This time, he was tangled up in Ernest’s mess.

“Mr. Flynn, where’s the bunny toy you promised me?”

“I brought it. But let’s eat first, and afterward, I’ll help you put it together. Sound good?”

“Okay!”

After the holiday, Hadley’s film crew resumed work.

On the first day back, a kick-off ceremony was held on set.

To her surprise, Hadley spotted a familiar face.

Linda—dressed in full costume—stood chatting and laughing with Adonis.

“Hadley,” Ayla whispered, sidling up next to her and nodding in Linda’s direction. “What’s she doing here? We didn’t hear anything.”

Hadley shook her head. “No idea.” Even Ayla, who worked for the same company as Linda, was in the dark. So how would Hadley know?

“Freda’s still the female lead, right? So Linda didn’t replace her. What is she even doing here then?”

They didn’t have to wonder for long.

“Hadley!” Linda walked over with a sunny smile. “What a nice surprise! Adonis told me you’re also in this crew.”

“Yes,” Hadley replied, offering only a nod.

“I’m just doing a cameo. Two scenes, and I’ll be done today.” Linda smiled breezily. “I was in one of Adonis’ earlier films and even won an award. I owe a lot to him.”

A makeup artist appeared behind her. “Miss Harris, time for touch-up. We’re about to start.”noveldrama

“Got it.” Linda nodded at the makeup artist and then waved cheerfully at Hadley. “We’ll talk later.”

As soon as she was gone, Ayla nudged Hadley. “Are you and Linda close? You seemed pretty friendly.”

Hadley shrugged. “We’re… familiar. Not close, though.”

Ayla looked doubtful. “Really? Didn’t seem that way.”

Hadley let out a quiet sigh. “Things aren’t always what they seem.”

Just because Linda had been friendly didn’t mean anything.

“But—”

“No buts. Go get your makeup done. Our turn’s coming up.”

That day, Hadley only had one scene. It was wrapped by the afternoon, but she couldn’t leave just yet—there was a crew dinner scheduled for the evening.

With time to kill, she found a seat and watched the others perform.

The scene currently being filmed was Linda’s.
