Chapter 800
Chapter 800:
Theresa saw it, but said nothing. She also knew why Elizabeth had called Armand. It was about the matter of the child.
She was again depressed. The child, for her, was an intractable problem.
At first, she thought she would solve the problem by agreeing to surrogacy, but she failed.
Armand put his phone away and said, “Sales promotion call.”
Theresa pretended not to see him and smiled as she said, “Today’s promoters are irritating. The one selling insurance, selling houses and loans, they all call to expand their business.”
Armand said, “Yes, very irritating.” He looked at her, “We still have time, is there somewhere you wish to go?”.
Theresa shook her head.
“There was a movie recently released with very good reviews, shall we go see it?”
Theresa said, “Sure.”
She was fine with going anywhere, since she didn’t have a specific place she wanted to go.
Armand pulled out his phone to look for the nearest available time slot.
The nearest one was over two hours away, so he said, “Let’s eat first before we go.”
Theresa said, “You arrange it.”
They left the buffet and got into the car. Armand was driving. As he had just started the car’s engine and was about to drive it, the phone in his pocket rang again. It was from his house. Armand hung up again without expression.
As he was about to turn it off, Theresa said, “Send me home and you go back to Grandma.”
Armand explained, “Theresa …..”
“It’s no use for you to shy away from the problem. It’s okay for you not to visit her for a short period of time. You won’t go visit her in your whole life? She’s older. If anything happens to her, you’ll be sorry.”
Armand wanted to say something to Theresa, but he realized he couldn’t say anything. What should he say? Sorry? Words were not helping to relieve Theresa’s stress.
Finally he said, “Thank you.
Thank you for your understanding, kindness, magnanimity and big heart.” Theresa leaned her head against the car window. She looked away in a daze. It seemed she hadn’t heard his words. She said nothing and just leaned against the window in silence.
Armand drove her to the residential area where they were staying temporarily. Theresa’s mind was absent. She didn’t notice that the car had stopped at her house. She didn’t open the car door and get out. Armand reached out to stroke the hair next to her ear and gently asked, “What are you thinking about?”noveldrama
“Yes?” Theresa came back from her distracted state and discovered that the car had stopped. She merely gave a reason, “I was tired a moment ago and didn’t notice.”
She unbuckled her seat belt and got out of the car.
Armand rolled down the car window and told her, “I’ll be back soon.”
Theresa smiled, “I’ll wait for you to come back.”
Armand motioned for her to get in. After seeing that she had returned home, he left.
On the way, he called her home phone number.
Soon, the call was answered. It was Dora.
“Is that Armand?”
Armand said yes.
Hearing the not-so-familiar maid call him Armand, he was disgusted.
He had no relationship with her. Their relationship was only that of a boss and a maid.
“… Grandma, Grandma is on the verge of death. Come back faster to visit her.” Dora stumbled.
Armand knew it was a lie. She just wanted him to come home.
At first, he wanted to visit her after being out for so many days. He didn’t expect her to be so eager.
Armand said, “Ask Grandma to take the call.”
“Okay… I can’t, Grandma can’t take it.” Dora took back her words after agreeing. It was obvious that someone was instigating her, that’s why she was behaving strangely.
Armand stopped his car at the side of the road: “Ask Grandma to take the call. Tell her I won’t come back if she doesn’t take the call.”
It seemed that the phone’s microphone was plugged. Armand could only hear a brief noise and then no sound.
He was in no hurry, so he waited quietly.
After a while, the call was answered by Elizabeth. She asked him, “You don’t want your grandmother after you’re married, do you?”
Armand leaned back in his chair. He looked out the window, “You seem energetic.”
Elizabeth stammered, “Do you want me to die?”.
“No, I hope you live a long life. I will die first.” Armand had no choice but to hide from her.
Luckily, his legs had some problems, so he couldn’t cause major trouble.
Knowing that Armand was hiding from her, Elizabeth lowered her voice: “Do you really want to leave me?”.
Armand became annoyed and said, “You raised me, how can I abandon you?”.
“Then you…”
“Grandma, I’ll come back to visit you tomorrow, I’m busy today, I’m hanging up now.”
He hung up immediately and turned off the phone to prevent her from calling him again. He didn’t want to face her.
He sat inside his car for a while and then turned around to go home.
Inside the house, Theresa sat in the hanging chair on the balcony. She looked boredly at the fish in the tank.
She curled up her legs and pulled out her phone to text Oscar: [What are you doing?].
Soon Oscar replied: [You, why are you texting me?]
[Why can’t I] Theresa replied.
[You can, you can, the guy is always around].
Theresa looked down and paused for a moment, [Dude, I’m not happy].
