Chapter 813
Chapter 813:.
Theresa’s nervousness was evident, but she said, “I’m not nervous.”
Armand sighed. His mentality was not in a good state right now. If he failed, he would be discouraged.
The couple arrived at the doctor’s office. Armand knocked on the door and only pushed it open when they were given permission to enter. When the doctor saw that it was them, he invited them to sit down.
Armand helped Theresa into a chair.
Theresa pressed her lips together tightly. She tried to calm herself by telling herself not to be nervous over and over in her heart, but it was hard to control her emotions.
There was a fine line between bliss and suffering.
“Doctor, how is it this time?” asked Armand.
The doctor did not answer immediately. Instead, he glanced at Theresa and said, “I’d like to talk to your husband privately for a while.”
Theresa didn’t move, “If there’s a problem, I want to be around to find out too.”
The doctor looked at Armand doubtfully.
Armand took Theresa’s hand, “I may want to talk about my problem, how about you wait outside first?”
“Regardless of who the problem is, I may as well know, right?” asked Theresa in turn.
Armand didn’t know what to answer, and only spoke after a moment, “Sir, let’s talk about it now. If there really is a problem, the two of us will deal with it together.”
The doctor finally nodded, “All right then.”
He pulled up the in vitro fertilization (IVF) results this time and handed them to her.
Armand asked, “Did it fail again this time?”.
If it had succeeded, the doctor would have told them by now instead of showing them documents they couldn’t understand.
“Yes, it has failed.”
Theresa was crestfallen. Her eyes lost all color instantly.
Armand hugged her shoulders, comforting her, “It’s okay. Even if we don’t have a child, you have me.”
She looked at the doctor, “It’s my problem, isn’t it?”.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t have asked him to leave sooner.
The doctor nodded, “These two failures were due to the quality of your egg.” He paused and continued, “If you want to do it a third time, there is a 90% chance it will fail again. Your egg is not suitable for IVF. The success rate is too low, so I suggest you give up. Nothing good will come out of this, and it’s also a mental strain.”
Undoubtedly, this response was a huge blow to the couple. Theresa felt everything in front of her become a blur. She felt as if her soul had left her. Her vision went dark, and she fainted.
“Theresa!” Armand hugged her.
The doctor said, “Put her on the bed and I’ll check her out.”
Armand carried her in his arms and laid her on the bed. The doctor came over to examine her. A moment later, he assured Armand, “She’s fine. She couldn’t take the news and fainted. You, as her husband, have to be by her side during this period.”
Armand gave Theresa a look, “I will.”
The doctor spoke again, “Actually, adoption is also a good option.”
Armand said nothing. In fact, he didn’t want to say anything now. He understood everything the doctor was saying, but he feared Theresa might not be able to accept it.
This was certainly a dead end for her. There was no room for change at all.
Even if she had agreed to IVF, she still wouldn’t be able to have her own child.
When Theresa woke up, she was already at home. Armand was at her side. When he saw her wake up, he asked, “Are you feeling discomfort anywhere?”
She shook her head and looked at the ceiling blankly, “Armand.”
“Yes?”
“Maybe we should break…”
“What kind of nonsense is that?” Armand was excited. He couldn’t accept what she had just said.noveldrama
Theresa closed her eyes and said hoarsely, “You’re going to be miserable when you get caught between me and Grandma.”
“I’ll be fine.” Armand lowered his head and looked at her, “I can accept anything short of you leaving me. We’ve been through a lot together, so let’s not say things like that anymore, okay?”
Theresa’s faint voice rang out again, “Could you leave me alone for a while?” She needed some time to herself.
Armand agreed to her request, “I’ll be in the lounge if you need me.”
She said yes in an almost inaudible voice.
Armand knew Theresa needed to calm down now, so he got up and left the room.
Once the door closed, tears came to her eyes.
This news was too cruel for her.
There were so many people in this world who could have their own children but chose not to….
As for her, who wanted so desperately to have a child, she could not fulfill her dreams miserably. God was unfair to her.
She sobbed softly.
Armand crouched in the doorway. Although Theresa’s voice was soft, he heard her. The surroundings were so quiet he could even hear his own breathing. How could he not hear her depressed cries?
Slowly, he slid to the floor, his head lowered and his body trembling.
After a long while, the sounds in the room could only be heard intermittently and finally stopped. Armand put his hand on the floor, supporting himself to stand.
He pushed open the door and stepped into the room, pretending to be relaxed as he asked her, “Can I get you something to eat?”
Theresa had long since lost her energy from crying. She turned her back to him.
Armand walked over and squatted in front of her, “We agreed not to worry about it. Why did you cry?”
He reached out and wiped the tears from the corner of her eye gently.
Theresa looked up slowly. There were still tears hanging from her eyelashes. Her voice was hoarse as she murmured, “I didn’t mean to cry.” But she couldn’t control her tears.
It was all too painful for her.
