Unhinged Omega: Chapter 41
My boots are wearing a path in the expensive carpet as I pace back and forth across Geo’s living room. My mind races, replaying Cosima’s words over and over.
‘Actually… I did.’
The implication is clear.
That monster got her through her heat.
My mate.
My omega.
I take a hand through my hair, tugging at the white strands in frustration. The gesture pulls at the wounds in my back, making me wince. Not that the physical pain even registers compared to the rage burning in my chest.
She let the Knight touch her.
Let him…
A growl builds in my throat as I imagine those metal claws on her skin. Those razor-sharp teeth anywhere near her throat. Her pussy. The way she holds his damn arm, the way she caresses his skin with sincere affection. Not just to calm him down.
Like she wants him, and only him.
‘If you scuff my carpet, you’re buying me a new one,’ Geo growls from his spot by the fireplace. When the fuck did he even come in? ‘And I have expensive taste.’
I bare my teeth at him. ‘Fuck your carpet. And fuck you.’
‘Original,’ he drawls. ‘Did you spend all these years coming up with that one? Or did it just pop into your head?’
‘About as long as it took you to pick out that eyepatch,’ I sneer. ‘Though I have to say, the leather really brings out the wasteland bastard aesthetic you have going on.’
Geo’s remaining eye narrows dangerously. He rises from his chair with deadly grace, and for a moment, I think he’s actually going to try to kill me.
Again.
‘If you two are going to murder each other, kindly do it outside,’ Raven calls out as he breezes through the room, his arms full of… throw pillows? ‘I want everything perfect when my goddess wakes up, and blood is such a pain to get out of upholstery,’ he says with the certainty of someone who speaks from experience. Plenty of it.
I watch in disbelief as he carefully arranges the pillows on the couch. ‘Where the fuck did you even find those?’
‘I sent someone on an emergency errand for less tacky decor,’ he says primly. ‘This place looks like a serial killer’s summer home.’
Geo’s jaw clenches. ‘It looks fucking fine. It looks how I want it,’ he adds pointedly.
‘It looks like you raided a haunted house,’ Raven counters, fluffing another pillow. ‘And not one of the good ones.’
I can’t help but notice the pillows are in shades of silver and violet. Like Cosima’s hair and eyes. Subtle.
‘Speaking of tacky,’ I drawl. ‘You still recovering from her little burn about your place of business?’
Raven whirls on me, blue eyes flashing. ‘At least I’m trying to make her comfortable instead of keeping her locked in a tower like some discount fairy tale villain!’
‘No, you’re just helping your sugar daddy keep her prisoner underground,’ I shoot back. ‘Much better.’
‘He’s not my sugar daddy. I have more money than he does.’
‘Debatable,’ Geo growls. ‘Would both of you just shut the fuck up before I throw you out on your asses? Some of us have actual work to do.’
I laugh harshly. ‘Right. ‘Work.’ Is that what you call running this cesspool?’
Geo’s hand twitches toward his gun, but Raven is at his side in an instant, his hand resting on the burly alpha’s arm. ‘Would you please be a dear and listen out for the delivery?’ he asks in a syrupy tone I know all too well, like he’s the trophy wife of a mob boss. Huh… guess he kind of is. ‘I need to go meet with my intel about this Azarel she’s looking for.’
I bristle at the reminder, but keep my expression neutral. The last thing I need is Raven peppering me with questions about the guy I’m pretty fucking sure Cosima is in love with.
Just another fucker I have to kill.
The list is getting too damn long, even for me. And my fingers start to itch if I haven’t pulled a trigger for a while, so that is certainly saying something.
‘What delivery?’ Geo asks, clearly annoyed at how his underground fortress is being taken over by Raven’s latest obsession.
‘The suppressants, Daddy,’ Raven says, looking up at Geo from beneath his light lashes with that infuriating sweetness in his voice. The sweetness he uses when he wants something. ‘I ordered them rush delivery from my most trusted supplier. No offense to your market, of course.’
Geo grunts. ‘Fine. But hurry back. I’m not dealing with your omega and her tin man on my own.’
I bristle at Cosima being referred to as ‘Raven’s omega,’ but I have bigger issues to deal with right now. Like how the fuck I’m going to get her out of here.
And the Knight… that’s another problem entirely. Though maybe not as big of one as I initially thought. If she can actually control him, maybe it’s a blessing in disguise.
After all, the last time I saw him, he was wiping out my men and destroying my air field. Now, all it takes is a single touch from her to soothe the savage beast?
I wanted to turn him into a weapon in the first place. I just never thought my mate would be the key to controlling that one-man army. But first, I need to get her alone. Need to talk some sense into her.
Raven practically floats out of the room, leaving Geo grumbling something that sounds like, ‘Darling, my ass,’ under his breath. The moment he’s gone, Geo’s eye fixes on me with laser focus.
‘What was that about?’ he asks, his voice deceptively casual.
‘What was what about?’
‘Don’t play dumb,’ he growls. ‘Your reaction when Raven mentioned Azarel. You know something.’
Fuck. He’s too damn perceptive.
‘I don’t know what you’re talking about,’ I say, keeping my voice level.
Geo’s lip curls. ‘It was plain as day in your expression, Vlakov. You’ve heard that name before.’
‘Maybe I should have taken your other eye, too,’ I sneer. ‘Then you wouldn’t be so observant.’
In an instant, Geo’s gun is in his hand, trained steadily on my chest. ‘Raven’s not around to bitch about it now,’ he says coldly, flicking the safety off.
‘You think he would forgive you?’ I sneer. ‘His opinion of you seems more important than you’d like to let on.’
He scoffs. ‘I could always say you made a run for the girl. That would dry his tears up quick enough.’ His finger tightens on the trigger. ‘So talk.’
I weigh my options. The wounds in my back are still fresh, limiting my movement. Even at my best, Geo’s not an opponent to take lightly. I learned that the day I took his eye—and the first day he nearly took my life.
And he’s right.
Raven’s not here to stop him this time.
‘Fine,’ I growl. ‘Yes, I’ve heard the name before.’
‘From who?’
‘From Cosima,’ I answer. ‘She spoke it in her sleep.’
Geo’s eye narrows as he considers this new information. I watch an array of emotions flash across his face.
Confusion.
Irritation.
Concern.
On Raven’s behalf, I can only imagine.
But before he can respond, there’s a knock at the door. He keeps his gun trained on me as he calls out, ‘Enter.’
A nervous-looking beta courier steps in, holding a small package. ‘Rush delivery for Mr… Raven,’ he stammers. He’s not pissing himself, though, so I imagine this is far from an unusual situation he’s walked in on.
Geo sighs heavily, finally lowering his weapon to sign for the package. He examines the suppressants with a scowl before turning back to me. ‘Now, where were we?’
But the words die in his throat as footsteps approach from the hallway. I turn and my heart stops.noveldrama
Cosima stands in the doorway wearing what must be one of Raven’s robes. Once she steps into the room, I catch his scent lingering on her.
That fucker did that on purpose.
The silk clings to her curves, still damp from her shower. Her silver hair falls in wet waves around her shoulders, and without the dirt and blood, she looks even more ethereal than before.
Like moonlight given form.
Her violet eyes drift to the gun still in Geo’s hand, but she doesn’t look afraid. To be fair, I hate his guts and even I’m pretty sure he’d never draw on an omega.
Especially not one his ‘boy’ is so obsessed with.
And of course, that makes them both thorns in my side all the more.
What do you think?
