Chapter 240
Katrina gave Carlisle a chance to choose. If he didn't want things to turn ugly, he should know what he needed to do.
Carlisle looked at her as if seeing her for the first time. He had never thought that Katrina would be so dead set on divorcing him. He didn't even understand why she was kicking up a fuss when everything seemed fine.
He felt a surge of frustration. His expression turned thunderous as he snapped, "Can't you see I'm in a meeting? Whatever it is, we can talk at home."noveldrama
Then, he immediately instructed Natty in a tone that brooked no argument, "Hurry up and escort Katrina out. Have the driver prepare the car, and you will personally send her home."
Natty looked at Carlisle's dark expression and braced herself as she stepped forward. "Mrs. Zachman, I'll get the car ready immediately and send you home."
Katrina didn't spare her a glance. Instead, she wore an impatient and icy expression as she looked at Carlisle. "I don't have time to waste with you. Are you sure you want me to discuss this in front of so many people?"
As soon as she said this, the executives in the room immediately glanced back and forth between the two. But out of respect for Carlisle, they didn't dare to overstep.
Carlisle detected the threat in her words. As long as Katrina didn't make a scene, any rumors about his affairs would remain nothing more than gossip. It was just another fling in everyone's eyes, nothing worth making a fuss over.
After all, having a few women on the side was hardly a big deal with his status. How many people in this social sphere were clean? Besides, he was just taking care of his first love and not doing anything beyond that.
But if the divorce issue came to light, especially with Katrina storming into the company and causing a scene in front of the entire upper management, it would be a completely different matter.
Carlisle would become the subject of ridicule, damaging his reputation. If this matter escalated, his position as the chairman of Zachman Group would impact the company's stock price.
This was the first time he had seen Katrina bare her claws, and he felt both angry and amused.
Just as Katrina's patience was about to run out, Carlisle suddenly stood up. He said, "The meeting is postponed. New timing is to be determined. You're all dismissed."
With that, he walked toward the meeting room door. As he passed by Katrina, he stopped and spoke through gritted teeth, "Come with me."
Katrina could tell he was angry. But she was here to discuss the divorce, so she didn't care about offending Carlisle. She immediately turned around and followed him.
Natty hurried to clear the things on the meeting table. Just as she was almost done and ready to leave, someone shuffled beside her.
She glanced up and froze for a moment. "Mr. Lynde."
Howard Lynde, vice president of Zachman Group, glanced at the door. Once Carlisle and the others were out of sight, he asked softly "What happened, Ms. Hale? Did Mr. and Mrs. Zachman get into a fight?"
Natty's face stiffened for a moment. Not daring to respond, she simply gave him an empty, professional
smile and said evasively, "I'm ponet
sure. meed to deliver some
documents for Mr. Zachmam, so I will be on my way."
With that, she quickly grabbed her things and hurried away.
Katrina followed Carlisle into his office and closed the door behind her.
Seeing him sit down behind his desk, she walked over to him. Then, she pulled out the divorce papers and slapped them down in front of him.
"Sign it," Katrina demanded.
Carlisle looked at the divorce papers on the desk. Then, he casually picked them up and flipped through the papers with mockery and disdain in his eyes.
Seeing the division of assets, he looked up at Katrina with narrowed eyes. "You even had someone investigate the assets under my name. Katrina, when did you start thinking about divorce?"
What do you think?
