Chapter 243
Chapter 243:
“Wait a damn second,” she snapped, jerking me back with more force than I expected. “What the hell is going on?”
I clenched my jaw. “Let me go, Vanessa.”
She didn’t move. Her fingers dug deeper into my skin as she looked at me, trying to figure out why I was suddenly rattled.
“If you’re in trouble, just say it,” she said, her tone suspicious now.
I exhaled sharply. I didn’t have time for this. For her. For whatever mess she was about to drag me into.
“Now is not the time, Vanessa,” I bit out, trying to yank my arm free.
“Like hell it’s not,” she shot back.
She yanked me harder, and I stumbled slightly, my body weaker than I wanted to admit. I hadn’t been at my best lately, and it showed.
“Stop it,” I hissed, glaring at her.
But Vanessa wasn’t going to back down.
“You’re not running from me, Raina,” she spat, her voice rising. “I’m going to deal with you.”
I struggled, but my strength was nothing compared to hers in that moment. I was tired, drained—physically and emotionally.
Vanessa, however, had no such limitations.
She all but dragged me along with her, her grip iron-tight as she elbowed her way past people, heels clicking sharply against the airport floor.
“Vanessa, let me go!” I growled, trying again to break free.
“Not happening,” she snapped.noveldrama
Heads turned. People glanced at us, curious but not interfering.
Vanessa’s voice was shrill and authoritative as she strode toward me. “You want to play games? Fine. You’re coming with me. Let’s see how my brother still wants you after this.”

I went rigid, my gut twisting.
She was taking me to the Sullivans.
Vanessa was driving like a maniac. Her hands were clamped so tightly on the wheel that her knuckles were white. She took a sharp turn, and the tires squealed in protest. My heart thudded against my ribs as I grabbed onto the seat, bracing myself.
“What the hell are you doing?” I snapped at her. “You said we were going to the Sullivans!”
She didn’t answer right away, her gaze fixed on the road, the city lights blurring past us. Something was off.
I turned my head, looking out at the road. My stomach twisted. This wasn’t the way to the Sullivan estate.
“Vanessa,” I said more sharply. “Where are you taking me?”
Her fingers clenched harder on the wheel as she exhaled a breath through her nose. “The Grahams.”
My eyes widened. “Why the hell would you—”
“Because I know something’s wrong, Raina!” she cut in, her tone biting. “You’re too damn stubborn to say it, but I can see it. Someone’s after you, isn’t it?”
My heart skipped a beat.
“That’s ridiculous,” I said, turning away.
Vanessa snorted. “Yeah? Then why did you look like you were about to bolt when I grabbed you? Why were those men at the airport watching you like a damn hawk?”
