A Divorce He Regrets

Chapter 308

Chapter 308:

“I’m the CEO. I can do whatever I want. Now leave.” Uncle Cale retorted in a voice that left very little room for argument, if any.

“Well, now that that’s handled…” He turned to me. “Let’s show you to your new office.”

I nodded and let him lead the way. We entered the room two doors down from the boardroom. He ran through a stream of instructions, then perks of the position, like a marketer trying to sell you a product on the black market. Yeah, no matter the perks, I wasn’t staying COO. I let him soak in his temporary victory.

The door shut behind him, and I sank into my new chair. My temporary chair.

I whipped my phone out and searched for his number. It was at the bottom of the list, but I found it.

“You can have your position back. If you want, we can come to an agreement.”

I hit send before I could change my mind. Dominic would never be able to resist. Not when they were on the verge of losing their legacy. He was clingy like that.

He stared at me, and I stared back at him. “Proposal,” he said. I didn’t even know what I was doing here to begin with. I loathed this fucker. I wanted him six feet under for everything he had done so far.

But I was here, and I was waiting to hear whatever fucked-up idea he had in his fucked-up mind.

“You might want to sit down for this, Dom. Don’t act like we’re strangers…” What is that even supposed to mean?noveldrama

“I’d rather stand. And please get to the fucking point already. I’m barely containing myself as it is…” I said coolly, but even he knew there was nothing cool about me. The rage inside me was waiting for that tick to explode, and I hoped to God it would be on him alone, without any casualties.

He smiled, then reached for the box of cigarettes sitting nicely on my table. It was mine even now, and it was just a matter of time before I took everything they stole from us back.

He took a stick out, stretched his hand forward, offering it to me. If it had been Alex, we would have had a nice quiet smoke.

I chuckled in my head. He too was one fucker I hated, but look at how fate had turned things around. Alex had become the only person who wasn’t family that I trusted. Oh wait, he actually is family. He and Raina are legally family.

Back to Nathan, I glared at him, pinning him with my stare as if to strangle him from where I stood. He smiled and shook his head.

“No? More for me then…” He took his lighter out and took a draw from the cigar.

“You know, Raina hated when I smoked…” he started.

She still does, asshole.

“But it’s not like she’s going to find out. I know you got her married to Alex to save the company. But I want you to give her to me…” He took a big puff from the stick in his hand and blew the smoke in my direction, his face turning serious. Murderously serious. “…get her divorced, married to me, and I will help you take my uncle down…”

I didn’t know what game he was playing at, but I was curious, despite knowing there was no way I was going to put Raina through all of this shit. Why hadn’t I even given the police all the evidence of his crimes?

“Before you say no, think about it. I know what this company means to both of you. I can help you get it back…”

This time, I took a seat. I needed to think, and I needed to do so without standing. If there was anything I got out of this request, it was that he was trying to screw us over again.

First, this was definitely a trap. Secondly, I knew what his intentions regarding marrying Raina were. He wanted our family’s entire fortune, and he could get it if he was legally married to her.
